Don't waste your money on cheap watches.
If you want all black, considera Seiko or a Citizen

Water resistant to 100m, and a brand with reputable quality so you know you're getting a good long lasting watch

The Citizen AR3015-53E is probably what you want. Save up an extra week.

There is the Citizen Stilleto that might be what you're after. Not sure what your budget is though but you can probably get this cheaper than from Amazon.

Citizen Stiletto models. 36mm X 5mm.

Thumbs up for the stilleto line. Been rocking this one as my daily wearer for a few months now. Small enough that I forget I am wearing it, but durable enough (sapphire crystal) that I don't worry about banging it up. I'm sure you can get it cheaper if you look.

For bauhaus watches you might want to look at mondaine or braun.

With the more military look, these are always popular http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seiko-Mens-Automatic-Watch-SNK805K2/dp/B000LTAY1U/ref=sr_1_6?s=watch&ie=UTF8&qid=1370202169&sr=1-6 there are a few choices of dial color, and you can get a better case for a little more money.

This kinda fits and would be good for a bartender

I believe this would interest you.

Perhaps this as well.

I like kinda old school designs, so I was considering this one. It is big but I think it looks better and cleaner than something like this which has the same functions. Unfortunately I'm not sure I can remember how to use all of them.

The Stilleto is thin an stylish.

Bulova is a brand owned by citizen, perhaps you can get one. I think the Precisionist Chrono is very interesting. They make it in several styles, some are very bold. I kinda like the square one because it's not something you see every day. Watch it in action.

So, the watch company Citizen figured this out a while ago, and made THIS!

u/nephros · 2 pointsr/Watches

Well I think an all-black watch can never look 'classy' but as you insist:

  • Citizen Stiletto
  • Orient Disk

are some all-black watches a bit dressier than those you linked to.

If you don't mind quartz maybe Skagen can do something for you, they are known for elegant, thin and okay quality watches.

Then, almost everything Luminox does is black, albeit not subtle: http://www.luminox.com/

OK so it sounds as though you want a black case as well as a black bracelet. That is usually referred to as PVD (for the type of coating that is used on the metal to make it black), and it is very uncommon in dressy watches. This is an Orient available on black leather that is nice and dressy. It has a stainless steel (non-PVD) case, which is generally considered to be a normal thing to pair with a black leather band. This is more of an all-black look if that is what you are going for. With a low-end budget, your best bets for a good quality watch are going to be Japanese: Citizen, Orient, and Seiko. My personal favorite is Orient (wear a blue Mako XL almost every day), but none of their offerings will get the internet epithet "fashion watch" applied to them.

I wanted to find something similar to this Citizen but with hour markers; I'm not a huge fan of blank dials. This one is similar, but it is a little too expensive and I'd imagine the black hands make it hard to read. I've seen this Mondaine recommended a lot but I dont like how thick the hands are. The Seiko has the same minimalist look those do but with an easier to read face than the Citizens (I'm also partial to the date window).
Edit: Also, I like the Orient Bambino, but it's too dressy.

> I don't want to read a logo every time I read the time!

You won't even notice the logo after a few days because the watch isn't the size of a wall-clock like it is in that picture.

But if you must have an invisible logo...

Not too bad at all. http://www.amazon.com/Citizen-AR3015-53E-Eco-Drive-Stiletto-Black/dp/B002BWPDE8

Under budget on the two you like.

Hello all, I'm looking to trade my Citizen Eco-Drive (https://www.amazon.com/Citizen-AR3015-53E-Eco-Drive-Stiletto-Black/dp/B002BWPDE8) on a gold bracelet, which I have 4 extra links for. I do not have the original band but I think it looks great on the gold! I'm most interested in a vintage watch but would be open to anything. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

If you can deal with the impracticalities of owning a dark watch consider this Citizen watch.

Yeah that's a unique design, not going to be able to find similar let alone at that price point. There are minimal design blacked out watches around that price point (look into Citizen), but nothing with that hand style.

Also, are those hands hours on the outside and minutes on the inside? Seems opposite of what I want. Hour hand doesn't need to be accurate at all to tell what the hour is, but minute hand should be to tell the minute. Given a watch like this isn't designed for simple accuracy, but seems weird.

Edit: Since there are a lot of pure fashion brands being recommended, here are a couple of not fashion suggestions.

Citizen Stiletto

Citizen Axiom

Would a full on black watch such as this be a bad idea for the Spring and Summer?

u/reportingfordooty · 1 pointr/Watches

This should be a pretty solid watch at a not too crazy price point. Eco drives are good apparently, I haven't owned one.

u/espnman321 · 0 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I use my phone to tell time... but that's usually because my watch is too damned difficult to read. It's an accessory, not a tool for me.
