Based on your description, I'm not exactly sure how big you need. However I bought two of these and they are ok. I wish I had a bit more table space, but I also have space issues. I like that I can just pull one out if it's a small or average sized game.

It's cheaper, still large enough for most-to-all mahjong junk mats (though you could even go without thanks to the vinyl inset) and it can be folded for compact storage when not in use.

I also bought 4 matching chairs but regular foldable pipe chairs will be cheaper if you don't care about the chairs matching the table.

I ended up finding a $40 folding table w/ vinyl top on amazon (w/ shipping).

Might still use these recommendations to make a bigger (3x3 or 4x4) particle board top for it though. Thanks to everyone who posted!
