The Road Tripper solves this issue by blocking the bugs with a screen that can be opened during the day to enjoy the scenery and closed at night when the critters come out. Works the same as traditional camping tent.
- Canopy – The sun canopy blocks the sun from coming into the vehicle when camping and also works as a rain guard during foul weather. The canopy is not retractable and is in the outward position at all times blocking sun and rain.

It’s this thing from Amazon. Not a perfect product (like, the directions say to place Velcro on the inside of your door to secure it, but you have to get that separately) but it’s pretty useful if you’re sleeping somewhere hot/ with bugs/ where it could rain and you want your windows down.
