One of these, an Epiphone Les Paul-100. Was the first electric I owned, and it served me damn well for 2 and a half years until I bought my Dean Razorback. Great guitar, feels great with nice sound. At $250, it's a great starter/midlevel guitar.
It's most likely a 2004 LP-100 model. You can buy them new on Amazon for $280. $220 used isn't a good deal, since you can usually get those for cheaper at even a Guitar Center in used condition. On craigslist they're found (in my area, a college town which may have a larger number of them floating around) for about $125-175 depending on condition.
It's definitely a LP-100 (I had one that I recently sold, for only $150 in great condition, in the same finish), but I'm slightly less certain on the 2004. The 4 in the serial number would seem to indicate 2004, but Epiphone did some funky stuff with their serial numbers recently so it isn't a guarantee.
The pickups have been either changed, or pickup covers have been added. The LP-100 did not have chromed pickup covers on it from the factory, so those are an aftermarket addition made by the previous owner. They could warrant a higher price if better pickups were installed, but otherwise I'd say that the $150-175 range is definitely much more reasonable for the guitar depending on condition.
For the future to help avoid confusion, you should know two things about the Epiphone Les Paul Standard that will help you to distinguish it from some of their lower cost models:
That said, this wouldn't be a bad guitar. I had a lot of fun with mine while I was using it and had no issues. In all honestly I would say it was a more comfortable guitar to play standing up than my Gibson Les Paul Studio, simply because it weighs less and isn't as thick from back to top. I had my LP-100 set up and afterwords it played pretty nice too, and from what I was told it didn't have any major or glaring issues with the frets and neck while the luthier was adjusting it.
