I wouldn't recommend the 650. The cheapest 650 I can find is $102, while the cheapest 750 is only $18 more at $120. Meanwhile, the 750Ti is a much better card than the other two -- about twice as fast -- and is another $30 on top of that at $150.

Now, obviously your means are quite limited as the price difference between the vanilla 650 and the Ti was by itself enough to deter you. But by my reckoning this also means you're not really in a position to spend $100 to upgrade a 6670 to a card that's not all that much better.

It's the boots theory of socioeconomic unfairness:

I think you should wait, save up to the extra $50 and go for the 750Ti. It'll last you much longer and give you a more pleasing gameplay experience throughout its lifetime. It would also give you more value out of your CPU in other games, as a 650 represents a serious bottleneck to a 3.8GHz quad core.

No, it's not at all against any rules.

I can't think of any really good prebuilts around that price, a lot of them are much, much, weaker than the Exterminator.

For $750, though, this one is decent...for a prebuilt.

Do you already have a relatively new desktop of your own? If so, just toss in a 750 Ti in there and say hello to 1080p/60FPS gaming on medium/high settings.

hmmm, this is a bugger, the CPU is opn the weak side and FM1 CPUs are mostly discontinued. the E2 being a lower end energy efficient CPU doesn't have a lot of power to it. the 200 to 300 point is bad to aim at for an upgrade.

Im going to ask a question, are you looking to upgrade and be done. or would you consider an upgrade that would be held back by your current hardware if it meant that you could also use the parts in a new build somewhere down the road.

For the first option, this will be pretty cheap, but will only hit medium settings probably. get a GTX 750 Link the 750's have very low power needs and a PSU upgrade won't be needed, make sure it's a model that doesnt need the 6 pin power cable, some 750's need it (the one linked should not)

for the second option, it will probably only hit medium settings still, but the parts will be viable if you upgrade the less to running on much higher settings. In the long run, this is over budget (this will vary a lot depending on goals, start with a 750 ti or 760 and new PSU, eventually replace case, motherboard, CPU, 4gb more ram. repalceing the motherboard will probably invalidate the current copy of windows)

Have you looked into the non ti model, the basic 750? Something like This. Should be even lower power consumption than the ti model and about as cheap as the 740.

I had a budget of $500 and I found my build on a trust worthy website! I hope this processor doesn't cause me problems then!

And if it makes you feel better, this is my GPU

Picked up a GTX 750 for 120 from Amazon

Best value I could find using this list- http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php

I'd get a desktop with a I3 over a AMD CPU. Also get a GTX 750 video card http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Dual-Link-Graphics-01G-P4-2751-KR/dp/B00IDG3NDY the pair should handle most games at high or medium and best of all, the video card can run using the stock Powersupply

Are you talking about this one?

And honestly I don't know what my power supply is right now, but I would be surprised if it wasn't 300+ watts. I'll check when I get home.

u/BOS_to_HNL · 1 pointr/buildapc

Thank you.

Is this the one you are referring to?

I see there is an SC version in there too. What do you think?

u/PrionBacon · 1 pointr/buildapc

The Nvidia 750 is quite solid:

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Dual-Link-Graphics-01G-P4-2751-KR/dp/B00IDG3NDY/

With rebate, it's $90.

However, it's only 1GB of memory. I doubt that you'll really need more though given you're running with lower specs.

u/AATroop · 1 pointr/buildapc

What do you think of this? I have a prime account which makes things easier, and $90 is a decent enough price for me (after rebate). Couldn't find a 260x for under 100. Just want a second opinion in case I'm overlooking something.

u/Beavergus · 1 pointr/buildapc

This or something very similar.

Edit: It uses Nvidia's newest Maxwell architecture making it almost impossible to beat in power/performance.

Compatibility on graphics cards nowadays usually depends on how old her MOBO is. almost all newer MOBO's have PCIex16 which is what graphics cards use to connect to the motherboard. so check what model motherboard she has and see if it has the correct slot. if you can't ask her what her mobo is maybe get a look at it and if it has this: http://imgur.com/42gCQeD (Highlighted in red) if you can see that she has one of these pretty much any grapihcs card will fit in there. as far as card recommendations i would go for the GTX 750. great budget gaming card. should play wow at high. and other games at medium if she ever wants to get into that.

If you decide to go for a simpler triple monitor setup, it really isn't too difficult. Mounting the monitors is actually really easy, the VESA mount is just four screws on the back of the monitor, so you attach the mounts to the screen, then the screens to the stand. After that it's just a matter of making sure you have the right cables to connect your screens to your videocard. I'll use the Nvidia GTX750 as an example. It has three outputs, one DVI port, one HDMI port, and one Displayport. If all of three your monitors had DVI ports, you'd just need one normal DVI cable (which your monitors would hopefully include), one HDMI to DVI cable, and one Displayport to HDMI cable.

If you need more specific help about what to buy, just let me know. I kind of know how you feel, because this scene from the first episode of SAO was my inspiration for my current monitor setup....kind of. I play flight simulators as well, so it had been on my mind even before SAO, that was just the point at which I finally went and did it.

Gpu is shit but everything else is usable. With another 130 he can get a really good gpu like this for the budget

u/joshtice4all · 1 pointr/buildapc

Quite frankly, your CPU is also really underpowered but you should be able to get a reasonable gaming performance boost with a better GPU for sure.

I'd look into getting something like the GTX 750. It is affordable, will make newer games playable on your older pc, and doesn't require much power. The R9 260X is about the same price and does perform better, but it uses up more power and requires that you connect it to your PSU (if you have a decent PSU, this shouldn't be a problem).

So upping the card would be more important then? Let me ask this then, and thank you all for the feedback, according to http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/ which is what I normally us, in the highend cards section the one I am using is scored at http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Radeon+HD+7770&id=322 2155, out of a total possible score of 9627, so what I have been thinking and please correct me if I am wrong on this, as long as I am hitting at least 3000 for a score I should be able to hit my goals since GPU it seems is the more important factor. Goals would be 50-60 FPS consistently, with everything on high and view distance at 60.

The card I was thinking about throwing in is:
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Dual-Link-Graphics-01G-P4-2751-KR/dp/B00IDG3NDY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1397748134&sr=8-3&keywords=GeForce+GTX+750+Ti

Thoughts?

u/psymaster330 · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Thanks, this looks great! Is this what i'm looking for?

Any normal PCIe graphics card works in a Mac Pro. If you don't need the grey apple boot screen then you can save a couple hundred dollars on it. Here is a really good budget graphics card that outperforms the 8800gt by a mile, runs at a lower wattage, and will cost the same price:

It supports display port, HDMI, and dual link dvi-i

EDIT: Source: I own a 3,1 also and currently am running a Nvidia 760 with no problems whatsoever. I would link to my imugr showing it but it's glitching out on mobile.
