Maybe something like this? It doesn't have a cushion but maybe you can fit a slice of foam in there?
Hey, got it from Amazon. I believe it is a Geekria product. This isn't the exact one as I can't seem to find it right now but it's the Sennheiser version: Amazon
I pulled a metal headband support out of a junk dollar store headphone, put it in [one of these] (https://www.amazon.com/Geekria-Compatible-Sennheiser-Replacement-installation/dp/B073CHJ631) and used some craft foam for padding. Finding a cover that fits might be hard though, that's a thin looking headband.
I think now that I'm not looking specifically for just HD598 parts, that this could work?

Then use this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B073CHJ631/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1Z9JDUNXKNJVN&psc=1 - to cover it up so it doesn't look so rough/stop it from falling off or wearing so quickly.
Not sure if that will work with the cushioning for the HD600 being a bit different...

It appears that at one point in time Sennheiser made headband replacements for the HD 598's but maybe not any longer? There are some 3rd party replacements on Amazon. Here's a link to the official one that is no longer in stock but they show some alternatives.
