Yes, it sounds totally corny, but I swear it changed my life relationship-wise. Buy it, borrow it, do whatever you have to do to read it. Of course if you aren't into women, disregard.
Meanwhile, it sounds like you have been getting a lot of crap advice from "pretend therapists," AKA friends. I don't blame you for being frustrated. Don't you love the advice that is cliché and doesn't offer any detailed steps, but makes you do all the work? Kind of defeats the purpose of asking for suggestions.
