Only if you're using some kind of encryption system that has that as a feature. Regular un-encrypted hard drives, and every kind of encryption I've had on my drives, can be swapped to another PC with no problems whatsoever - as long as you remember the password for the encrypted ones... I've done it every time I've built a new PC or got rid of a laptop - just plug the drive in the new PC, power it up, and away you go. Full access to old hard drive and no fuss.
My company does it routinely with encrypted drives when people's laptops are upgraded too. Crucial or Samsung ssd are best imo. Capacity depends on how much you want to use it. Destiny obviously benefits from it but other games can too
Could mean anything. Best bet is to buy a caddy go on ifixit to find out how to get to your drive, put it in the caddy plug it into someone's laptop and see if it's readable.
