You're going to need to figure out how to power on the PC and whatnot. I hacked a power strip to move the button to the side of the cabinet to make it easy to power the strip on and off, and I wired a pushbutton to the On/Off switch on the motherboard to power on the PC.

It's an older version of this more or less. I have it hooked up to a KVM so I can work on multiple machines while sitting back in my chair or from further down the workbench.

I don't know if lag will be an issue, but perhaps you should try a wireless keyboard+mousepad. If that one seems too large, try this other one.
