I'm surprised you say lower the better for console sensitivity. I use 100/100 for my sensitivity, and I find that I'm way more capable than before. I also use these controller stick extenders which help a ton. I use them on all FPS games.

I ordered these and am absolutely thrilled with them. I have the first Xbox One controller (that does not have the headphone jack without adding a stereo headset adapter), but I imagine the sticks are the same. These clip onto my sticks to make them around twice as tall. I have a lot more sensitivity in movement. At first I put it on the left stick for one game and the right stick for a different game, but then I just attached them both and haven't looked back.
I notice the best effect in FPSs and racing games. I can aim and strafe more accurately, and I can narrowly adjust my racing line with greater precision (rather than repeatedly hitting left or right multiple times to a greater degree than I'd like/etc.)

My tip on this is always to invest in a control stick extension, like these. The idea sounds weird, but I can't go back to playing without them. I use it just on the right stick. It basically increases the distance that your thumb has to travel to get from center to edge, which makes smaller movements (and therefore tracking) much, much easier.
Personally I don’t think they are too tall but that’s my preference . It took a little getting used to for me but now they feel much better than stock . I have a slight tremor that kind of hurts me with precision in FPS games. These help me a lot. Having an enlarged radius for movement precision really helps me with those sniping and over-compensating experiences.
That said, everything comes in time and practice. You learn nuance with time and intuition takes over once you've played enough.
