Good to know, thank you.

This is the one I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D4LP7E6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It seemed to have the highest percentage of decent reviews. I guess we'll see.

I checked my email history, I bought the battery in 2017 and it was called Fosmon LVL 6 Efficiency Replacement Battery for PSP 1000.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it is for sale anymore for PSP on Amazon (though they do have 2000/3000), sorry :-(

I haven't had to buy a PSP battery since then so you will have to do a little homework but this one seemed to be the highest rated on Amazon for PSP 1000: https://www.amazon.com/SONY-PSP-1000-1001-capacity-Rechargeable/dp/B00D4LP7E6

I love my PSPs and so do my sons... I am going to be so upset if one day batteries for my 1000 and 3000 are no longer available.

Ouch. Could've just made a PSP EBOOT from PS1 discs (pretty sure a hacked Vita can load PSX2PSP EBOOTs, right?)...

Now, about games you can play, I'd recommend the Absolute Zero translation of Tales of Phantasia (PS1), which you can convert into a PSP EBOOT and play if your PSP is hacked. It's of my favorite games of all time, but the only 'official' English release was a horrible GBA port (Tales of Eternia for PSP is also amazing, but it was a UK-only release and imports go for nearly $100 in the US last time I checked -- the PS1 version, called Tales of Destiny II in the US, may or may not be cheaper). The Tales games are all action-JRPGs though, if that's an issue; they have side-scrolling real-time action battle systems in otherwise birds-eye-view worlds.

Also for PSP, I'd like to second /u/clazaa's recommendation of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, which feels very 'old school', like the SNES JRPG era never ended -- it's every bit as detailed and interesting as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, and the other JRPG classics.

As a side-note, I'd like to point out that decent PSP battery replacements are still readily available on places like eBay and Amazon. This one sounds really decent judging by the reviews (though I haven't bought one myself): it's an 1800mAh battery that supposedly works for about 7-8 hours according to the top review. For comparison, the stock battery that came with my PSP 3000 is a 1200mAh battery which last for 5-6 hours... :)
