I got this laptop used for $550 about a year ago. I'm guessing the seller was just trying to move inventory which is why it was discounted ~$300. It worked perfectly when I got it and I've had no issues since. Only thing I did to upgrade it was replace the HDD with an SSD.

BTW you can remove the part in the links after "/ref=" & the name after "www(dot)amazon(dot)com/".

For eg. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014MIBR7K
(Your last link)

It still works the same. It looks better IMO.

The M375 Radeon graphics is capable of some light gaming (LoL, CS..etc) so your M365X is probably on par if not slower. For 880 euros? I think you could get a far better deal. Try to look for notebooks that have GTX 960m or newer. 970m, or gtx 1060 would be ideal for portable gaming. and there are many options available for that price range. I strongly advise you to go for gtx 1060. they are desktop chips.

and that 1GB of M365X isnt gonna help but bottleneck you.

The HP EliteBook 850 G3 is a nice laptop but it has no dedicated graphics.

So if you're looking for something nice for gaming and portable for around 800 euros. here is a list that will hopefully help you.

I'd also be interested in peoples opinions. They seem very similar and the y700 is an amazon deal of the day for ~$750. Either way I'd throw in a $100 (256GB) SSD and $60 for 8 gb more ram you're looking at around $900 for either the i7559 or the y700 and have almost identical specs.

...I've heard the y700 has a bit better build quality (keyboard, trackpad) and has much better speakers. Also, I guess lenovos are known to have a ton of bloatware which is annoying but removable.

The Alienware 13 R2 can be a fine choice if you buy it with the 1920x1080 IPS display, not the base 1366x768 TN display.

The 1366x768 TN display doesn't let you fit much onscreen, and has very poor contrast + colors + viewing angles. It's just about the worst display you can get in an $800+ laptop, and the display is one of the most critical parts of a laptop. Don't get the Alienware 13 R2 if you can't fit the 1920x1080 IPS display into the budget.

------

But there are other options under $1000 that should match the game performance (GTX 960M) and screen quality (of the 1080p IPS). These, for example:

I bought Lenovo Y700-15ISK and so fine so good, to my knowledge it has M.2 SSD slot if you need it.

oh this is the 2017 version of the pavilion just came out recently. The pavilion with 960 is a older version. i found some versions on amazon but they are 970+ its considerably cheaper to buy at at the HP store but ik that not a option.

  1. What observations ? 2. the asus is a smaller more portable laptops, it has better screen, better battery life, better build quality, a SSD and much lighter which is more suitable for college usage, the Dell is heavier, has lower quality screen, and slightly lower build quality and more expensive but it also has a much more powerful GPU and CPU, but you said that you don't game as much as you are used to or as much as you want to, which is why I originally considered the asus to be a better option.

  2. yes there is, but it is not close to your price range, not to your original one and not the updated one with finance, so I don't think you should be going something similar, also the link is not working, it is directing me to this comment.

A little over budget but what about this Lenovo Y700 the screen and build quality is not as good as the ZenBook but it is still better than the dell inspiron but it is also more expensive.

I've heard great stuff about this one.

A friend of mine owns one and he can't stop praising it enough.

u/ibitthechip · 1 pointr/arma

Can anyone tell me if this laptop would play Arma 3, or if so, how well would it run?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014MIBR7K/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Also, is there anything better in this price range?

Thanks!

Update: I found this on amazon and I've been eyeing it for awhile now, does this seem like a smart purchase?

I have always liked the Lenovo Y Series laptops. I have a Y580 and its been great.

I am thinking of upgrading to this Y700 but the 17" version with 16gb RAM, https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Y700-GeForce-Windows-80NV0026US/dp/B014MIBR7K/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1480867815&sr=1-2&keywords=lenovo+y700

What is your budget?

The y700 has comparable specs and price to the sager, not sure why you prefer the sager so much https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014MIBR7K

Yeah, I'm talking about the same card. Thanks.

I was looking at this and this model

Thank you for the reply! I just got a call back from some family and my price range has jumped an additional $200! What do you think about this or this?

It's a decent system, but don't expect to play your latest game releases on the best supported settings. You can also check out the "Other Sellers" section and find one that offers warranty and Fulfillment by Amazon. Those systems are tested before being shipped (unless it's a simple "open box" product.).

If you're trying to stay away from Dell, maybe look into a Lenovo Y700 for $875. It is an extremely powerful laptop with near top of the line specs with a Skylake i7-6700HQ processor, 8gb of ram and a 1TB HDD. It also has a 960M graphics card which should allow you to play most all modern games with great fps.

It's an especially excellent option because it has a full 1080p IPS display which should work well for photo editing, and it has a decent battery that can last up to 5 hours of light use. It also has a backlit keyboard, and JBL branded speakers (one of the best for laptops) which according to reviews are good.

u/Orangematz · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

What about a Y700? It has a better keyboard than the Inspiron i7559.

u/ChewyBivens · 1 pointr/wow

I just bought a new laptop after weeks of looking around for one. It's gonna be here today! I decided on this $800 Dell.

There's also the Lenovo Y700 for $60 cheaper that I read was better than the Dell I bought since their actual specs are almost identical, but the Lenovo's keyboard, trackpad, and speakers were much better than the Dell's. I decided on the Dell since I'm almost never gonna use the speakers and trackpad and because I think the "gaming laptop" design that the Lenovo uses is incredibly ugly.

This Dell is between the price of the above two computers. It's the same as the one I bought except it has an i5 processor instead of an i7 and it comes with a 256GB SSD instead of a 1TB HDD. My logic was that I could always buy an SSD but not a new processor for my laptop, so I went for the more expensive i7 model.

This $550 Acer is the cheapest of the bunch. It has GTX 940M 2GB graphics card instead of the 960M 4GB of the above models, and a 256GB SSD like the Dell. Again, my thinking was that I would much rather have an inferior hard drive that I could easily replace than an inferior graphics card that I would be stuck with forever.

Oh hey, what do you think about this?
