In my experience with my female significant other, it takes longer to warm up and adequately apply lube for anal, but once I get going, I can go deeper and more vigorously without any later discomfort or bleeding. We even had to resort to exclusively anal for penetration (well, anything beyond literally "just the tip") after an in-office gyno procedure left her cervix very sensitive and prone to bleeding after any vaginal penetration. That only lasted a few weeks, but by week 2 of no penetration she was really missing it.

So if you like the feeling, and can handle the size, It's worth a try.

It did initially take a few weeks of regular work to get her worked up to it, and a few years before she would ask for it completely sober as well. So you'll need to experiment and see what works for you. One thing that really helped us was a set of anal dilators (This kit was what we got: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0091WPQE8/ref=psdc_3777381_t4_B00AU8HZC8 ) But the largest one in that set is only 2" in diameter, which was enough to get me in comfortably, but you might need something more if he is significantly larger, as you describe.

LUBE: We used to use Wet Platinum, then Joh silicone. But a couple of years ago we switched to coconut oil (cold pressed, unrefined) and really prefer it. Makes cleanup easier and it leaves your skin feeling well-moisturized. Reminder, coconut oil eats latex, so don't use it with condoms or latex toys. It is safe with high quality silicone toys (tantus, bad dragon, etc) or non-porous plastic like the dilators above though.

Recently I got the idea to buy a set of silicone water bottle ice cube trays, ( https://smile.amazon.com/Silicone-Narrow-Material-Bottles-Assorted/dp/B01A7G2W5W?ref_=bl_dp_s_web_2595511011 ) melt the coconut oil in the microwave, pour into it, and refrigerate. Use them like suppositories near the beginning of the session and it keeps from having to re-lube nearly as often. You can use more than one if needed. If you do anal without an enema first, and you use these, you may want to avoid doggy style or any face down position, as some will drip downwards, and could possibly cause problems if it transports fecal matter to your vagina.

They also work really well for vaginal sex, and if he can slide in before it all melts you get some cool sensations. Just expect a good amount to drip out - more than using them for anal since the vagina is only open on one end.

I'm one of those who worries about using 3d printed parts that are in long contact with food. Even if the base plastic is "food safe", that doesn't mean the manufacturing methods are or any additive is food safe.

I'm not familiar with the filament type you mention, but you need to make sure it can handle the thermal issues with freezing and thawing. Some plastics can become brittle because of the temperature cycles.
