Logitech G19. It is a bit strange.

Did you buy a gun or a gaming keyboard? Post a pic to clarify!

I went from a Dell keyboard to a Logitech G19 to my current corsair K70.

If this one gives out i'll probably go back to a cheap rubber dome keyboard.
Tbh for gaming in my personal view keyboards make bugger all difference.

With the G19 the screen was good for seeing who was talking on TS but that's about it, the screen didn't get much in the way of support and no one used it. After a while you get to know voices anyway.

The 36 macro keys were only ever used for saving scripting commands that were commonly used in game which ended up becoming redundant after the group I was in started saving those scripting commands as short snippets (e.g #createvehicle 'RHS_M1A1')

Go with your budget but I'd suggest getting something like a TrackIR if you want to improve in Arma or a comfy mouse ratehr than a keyboard.

Keyboards

Not sure what your budget is, a G510 is a good gaming keyboard, or if you have the money, a G19 is also a great keyboard. They are made by Logitech, and have programmable "G" keys, and the backlight keys make it great for gaming at night, and they have USB ports built in to them, which you could plug a wireless mouse, or anything else into. Also the G19 has a full color display that you can download different little "apps" for that show anything from a Youtube video, to the internal temp. of your rig. If you're looking to spend a little less money, the Razer Arctosa is a pretty decent gaming keyboard, that also has programmable macro keys as well. I currently have a Logitech G15 v.2, and that's what I was going to recommend for you, but I was unable to find it for sale anywhere online.

Mice

Probably one of the best gaming mice you could get would be a Razer Mamba I've used them before, and I absolutely loved it. It's wireless, the scroll wheel is lit by LEDs, and it has a charging dock, meaning there's no AA batteries needed. A DeathAdder or an Abyssus are also good Razer mice that are inexpensive, but work good. It doesn't necessarily need to be a "gaming" mouse per-se, I use a Logitech MX-610 and it's great for anything.

If you have any questions or would like to know if something else you find is a good mouse/keyboard, shoot me a pm and I'll be glad to help you out.

Stay classy and get a Logitech G19

wireless mice are usually shit for gamers, but some legit wireless mice get a bad rap. The Logitech G700 is an excellent wireless mouse with little or no input lag, but I still wouldn't use it (don't want the battery running out in the middle of a match). I have a G500 mouse and love it to death. I highly recommend it.

Gaming mouse is number one priority, and a gaming keyboard (in my opinion) is fairly low on the list of priorities. If he likes his keyboard, there is little reason to get him a gaming one. Most "gaming" keyboards are simply backlit, some have programmable keys where you can program macros into them, and still more expensive ones have LCD screens attached.

If you really want to spoil him, the logitech G19 is the way to go.

However, I think that costs way more than it's worth. Consider going for a Mechanical Keyboard (warning: mechanical keyboard are pretty loud, but they're awesome for gamers)

You didn't list your budget, but since you said you have a Lycosa, I'm going to assume you know what it feels like to throw money at a keyboard.

Gaming keyboards (well, keyboards in general) can range from very budget friendly, to ridiculous.

Sticking with Razer and going for a more "solid" feel, the new Blackwidow line with the Razer custom switches may be what you're looking for. The versions with the Razer orange switches may be quiet enough that your roommate won't mind. The Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth has all the lights and other bells and whistles. The Logitech G710+ should feel and sound about the same.

If you want to dump the mechanical switch types all together, the Logitech G19 and the Corsair K50 are all-around good boards, but they'll have the same feel and heft of your Lycosa.

Your most solid built keyboards are going to be the mechanical ones - if even for the simple fact that the 104+ individual Cherry switches will weigh more than a single sheet of rubber membrane. If you get the chance, I'd suggest trying out a brown, red, or black Cherry switch. They don't have the telltale click, but if you're a key-basher, they can still be loud. If you find you hate'em or they're too loud, there's not too many membrane keyboards that have the "tanky" feeling of a mech. You might already be at the top of the heap with the Lycosa.
