Its long been out of production, so people can set the price to whatever they want.

Seconded. I have found that Logitech create my preferred mice. The MX1000 is my favorite mouse I ever used.

Side note, holy crap, can that price be right? I got mine for $.50 at a Goodwill outlet shop. Don't buy that one. I would say worth $50, but that is about it.

I realize that this is way out of your budget but this is the one I used to use at work. I can not find the one I currently use(I switched to a corded Logitech one) but I would say that any mouse with this kind of shape will be way more comfortable for your hand than the one you have a picture of in your post.

I would also recommend getting a corded mouse. Since I have experienced that in an office environment the signals of a lot of similar mice will get crossed.

For some reason when I see someone working with a small mouse like yours I always think that that person is gonna get carpal tunnel from working with it or something. I do not know why since I do not have enough knowledge of ergonomics to draw that conclusion. :) It just looks really uncomfortable.

took a gamble on Mionix Naos 5000, it took a little getting used to since it doesn't feel like you can cup the mouse, but it's been great.

I still have 2 Logitech MX 1000 which I've had FOREVER. but the feet are worn off and the batteries don't hold well anymore.

I have the model before that, the MX 1000 and as long as that thing keeps working I don't think I will ever buy another mouse. It's like a pillow for your hand.

I have scrolling buttons for up, down, left, and right on my mouse all around the scroll wheel. This actually sounds kinda cool.

Problem with those older apple mice is that they don't have right click. Logitech's first laser mouse was the MX1000 in 2004-

Doesn't look too retro to me, but I guess I'm getting older. Seems like mice these days look like ferrari space ships.

I'd really suggest the logitech G5, it was an excellent wired laser mouse that you can pick up for relatively cheap, from circa 2008.
