One thing that helped my golf game immensely was one of those medicus clubs. Instead of going out to the range and hitting 95 terrible shots and 5 good ones, if you don't swing correctly the club breaks (well sort of) and doesn't let you hit the ball.
I'd suggest starting with something like their 7 iron at the range for a couple of weeks. Once you master that one you can pick up the 5 iron, or maybe even hit up a par 3 course with real clubs to see how you're doing.
Also, I didn't buy mine on Amazon. Dick's sporting goods had a sale, and I had one of their coupons, I ended up only paying $85 for mine. So just keep an eye out to see what's available in your area.
