I can't think of anything designed to go with a closed door hinge. However, if you have a smooth metal door, can you use a portable handicap suction mounted handgrip stuck to the door? Just an idea to consider.

The only other thing I can think of is to see if they'll allow the installation of a support grip just outside the door that's short like this as long as you bought it and agreed to pay for the install, (as well as the removal when you leave - I think that's required when the modification is reversible), unless you get a waiver in writing, of course, before moving.

The only other thought I have is to use a retractible leash for your keys that you can attach to your clothing, or bag, like this so that your keys are not attached to your cane for the purpose of getting indoors. I'd say, use the key leash, hook to your belt or bag strap, and do it that way.
