Jesus $42 for 4 batteries, but Americans can get Tennavolts for around 10. Ugh

I don't know, but I'm using these and they are fantastic. I charged them first a week ago and they're still going strong.

> The USB dongle is plugged into a 3.0 port in the front, which is not even 6ft/2m away from where I'm usually standing.

That's one potential issue - USB 3.0 sometimes creates interference with Bluetooth controllers. It seems to depends on the motherboard being used, so try switching it to a 2.0 if available and see if it gets better. It's not a surefire fix, but easy to test.

> I use the Amazon Basic 2400mAh ones (unfortunately only 1.2V) but I've never had any of the problems other people are experiencing, like the batteries always showing up as almost empty. It's just that the tracking is off sometimes - even more when the batteries are almost empty but also sometimes directly after recharging them.

This will definitely affect things. I found my tracking went to pot after my alkaline AAs dropped into the 'low battery warning' territory. It's been hypothesized by many MWR users that low battery mode makes the hand tracking worse - maybe it decreases signal strength or increases the intervals between light pulses... I dunno. It might be as simple as signal strength being directly connected to battery voltage. Anyway, I use these - no problems since then. I also tried some of the 1.5v lithium batteries that had built-in USB charge ports - they were worse than alkalines.
