I use this. It's not exactly a kickstand but it's a nice case that doubles as a stand for the tablet.
I couldn't suggest this more, it's slim and light, feels premium, and is a great price.
I haven't been able to find anything similar to the smart cover, but I did just receive a case I ordered on Amazon and like it so far.

I'm probably going to end up going with an iPad case as you suggested, there just aren't many premium sleeves/cases for android devices >:(

To be honest, it gets the job done better than anything else I've seen, and it's probably more practical than a sleeve.
