these are my go to. Got a half dozen of them, they changed the stock picture to show just the plug ends, but they are 3ft coiled down to a nice 5”. Keeps everything clean cut but gives you plenty of flexibility. So far no audio issues.
Try finding one of these and connect it to XBOX and as an audio-in on your PC and configure Windows to play its sounds to your headphones.
Alternatively you could try looking for one of these to have HDMI in while using Windows. It's a bit pricy and overkill for what you're looking though.
I'm not sure if either of these will work though, it's a shot in the dark.
oh, it's just a standard pre-amp signal with a 3.5mm jack. (I see you also said it's smaller than 3.5mm, so try 2.5mm then)

Take a 3.5mm patch cable, run it from something like a PC's audio card to the sub, nothing fancy. You can also use an RCA to d3.5 mm adapter to go from your AVR if your AVR has a pre-amp sub out.
