I’ve taken a few broken lenses apart with the line of thinking that if I don’t fix it, it’s not a big deal because there was no way I was going to pay to have them repaired. Generally these were lenses that I had another copy of, or were cheap third party lenses.

If this is your mindset, then go for it. Though admittedly the number of lenses I fixed correctly is smaller than the number that ended up in pieces in a plastic bag because I couldn’t figure out how to get them back together. Yours might be easier, since you’re not fully disassembling, and there’s no zoom mechanism to worry about. Still, I wouldn’t work on it if you’re afraid to lose it.

I haven’t tried to disassemble my 110, or any of my RZ lenses for that matter, but you’ll probably need a spanner, tiny screwdrivers, and a set of rubber friction rings.
