I got a switch on Black Friday and it had a serial number of XAW7001790X which could've been patched according to this.

I ended up going to Amazon and buying an RCM jig anyway to see if I can get into RCM mode. Worse case was that the switch I got was patched and I would be out $9.

Got my jig in today and followed the steps here and was able to inject the fusee-test.bin payload successfully so now I know I have an unpatched switch!

TL;DR The only way to know for sure that you have an unpatched switch is to try and access RCM and inject a payload.

EDIT: If you downgrade, you'll definately have sleep issues as there are burnt fuses from upgrading to 6.2. Also there's always a risk of messing up your switch if you ground the pins improperly. The "safest" method is to just buy a RCM jig.

This is not a story the Jedi would tell you.

Check your serial number to determine if you have a unit that can be exploited, buy/build a jig to short right joycon rail 10 to ground. POWER DOWN, insert the jig, hold volume up and press the power button and use your exploit injector of choice (I use tegrarcmgui) to boot into whatever you’re looking to run, which in my case would be the L4t project.

I am not liable for anything you do to your Switch and or person. Please be careful with your system. Rails are counted from back to front if you’re facing the screen of the system. DON’T USE A PAPERCLIP. If you accidentally short the joycon power rail (I believe it’s rail 4 but don’t quote me on that!) you will not only destroy your switch, you could cause it to catch fire.

I recommend using one of these but to each their own.
