I use the Nillkin H+ screen protector, this is an edge-to-edge clear TGSP. The quality of the glass is good quality with a working oleophobic coating. I would only caution that you get only one and it is the EXACT width of the screen - meaning if you mess up the install you're going to need another one. Other than that, I recommend it.

I saw similar protectors, the OMOTON ones on Amazon, and it comes with 2 and has an install guide. It also seems to cover more area by the cameras, whether that is better or worse (not sure of any possible glare but probably is fine). Reviews look favorable.

As to why it took so long, I'm guessing that the combination of curved screen and possibly the dummy phones not having a real screen might have affected manufacturing of TGSP's coming out. Some of the early screen protectors were slightly too big and didn't adhere properly either. It might also be because companies had screen protectors for other phones that could be cut down to fit the Pixel. Just guesses I have no idea really.

No complaints with this OMOTON one I bought off Amazon. It's not true edge to edge (most aren't unless you go for the fake bezel ones which I don't like) but there's no haloing or adhesive issues. And I only buy screen protectors that come with an installation tray now because it makes application that much easier.

I had the Whitestone Dome screen protector. Within 2 days, the screen protector started to lift on the right edge of my screen. Needless to say, the adhesive wasn't that effective, but I lived with it for awhile. I ended up buying this: OMOTON Tempered Glass Screen... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KCQM1H9 which includes a simple plastic guide that makes it dead simple to apply the tempered glass screen protector. So far (especially considering the price vs the Whitestone Dome) I'm very happy with it.
