Same here. Not cheap but we got this one about a year ago and it's been great. The doggers got the hang of it after a few days with just a bit of coaxing. The best part is it's tall enough to reach the top of our bed which is somewhat high. It's very sturdy so I don't anticipate needing to replace it anytime soon.

Wife and I had similar Westie issue until we purchased this bed ramp, that we leave up next to the bed at all times and now she climbs up and down from the bed as she pleases. Also, as she and her brother (Corgi-mix) get older, we didn't want them jumping completely off the bed from that height in an effort to save their older joints, back, etc. Definitely a purchase that we constantly ask each other, "Why didn't we buy this sooner?" It took a week or so for the dogs, and us, to get used to.

Ditto on the harness that someone else mentioned, our Westie hits the brakes from time to time, this harness has a huge comfy breast plate that we can sort of just pick her up and point her where we want her to go. Gotta love Westies....good luck.
