I bought it on amazon for about $500 second hand. I don't know if it's still available.

4k monitor in my opinion.

I've had the 40" 4k Philips BDM4065uc for over a year now and I can't go back

4:4:4 60hz

Advertised response is 3ms but actual response is closer to 20.

If you ever feel like playing a game in ultrawide you can set a custom resolution in the nvidia control panel and get it.

The massive ammount of screen real estate is great for working/coding/browsing. and it's big enough that you don't have to use display scaling.

Here's an insanely detailed hardocp thread on it

here's an album of pictures and screenshots with it

Your 970 won't be enough to run new games in 4k at 60hz at max settings. But if you turn them down or play the games you listed you'll be fine.

I get about 50 fps in the new doom with my titan x with everything maxed.

here's a pretty detailed review:

This is how I solve it. Photo taken from the sofa.

I live in a 19 m^2 apartment and realized that a lot of my precious wallspace was taken up by a 42" TV. I therefore sold it along with my old 24" monitor and got a [40" 4K Philips Monitor] (http://www.amazon.com/Philips-BDM4065UC-Resolution-Speakers-DisplayPort/dp/B00SCX78JS) instead.

Also I brought a really low and small desk from IKEA and built a cart for my grandfathers arm chair. For me this works splendid.

Closest thing I can find is https://www.amazon.com/Philips-BDM4065UC-Resolution-Speakers-DisplayPort/dp/B00SCX78JS it's the largest display I can find with DisplayPort and behaves like a monitor.

u/trippleguy · 3 pointsr/battlestations

He just said it was 4k, but here you go.

u/jamesstarks · 2 pointsr/gaming

Multiple options.

I can connect up to 4 computers to my monitor...or I can set my games to run at 1080P, watch TV, and have a web browser open...Screenshot

At the resolution of my monitor, it is theoretically 4 20" monitors at 1080P each.

Your problem will be finding something with a decent response time. Perhaps something like this? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SCX78JS/

It's the Philips BDM4065UC. I have one, and I've always wondered what it would be like to have two. This is the first time I've ever seen a photo of such a setup.

u/anthonygarand · 1 pointr/macsetups

Not really, no. I am considering getting rid of all of them though and getting this Philips 40" 4K.

u/AMLRoss · 1 pointr/Monitors

Im using Philips 4k VA monitor. (40")

Its cheap and looks good.

https://www.amazon.com/Philips-BDM4065UC-Resolution-Speakers-DisplayPort/dp/B00SCX78JS

you should be able to find it cheaper somewhere else.

Any thoughts on using a 40" 16:9 4k monitor? Looking at this

Can get a good deal locally and I'm having trouble spotting potential negatives as I'm not well versed in displays.

u/MajorStewie · 1 pointr/Monitors

the image quality is usually poor. it too early for good 4k monitors unless you have the money to spend a lot on a good one. actually this one could work http://www.amazon.com/Philips-BDM4065UC-Resolution-Speakers-DisplayPort/dp/B00SCX78JS

Is what I have and what I would reccomend, Great 4k 40" monitor.

If you would like something a little bigger you can find some Wasabi Mango Displays out of Korea that are suppose to be pretty good.

u/mad_mesa · 1 pointr/linux_gaming

There's no standard name that I'm aware of.

As for displays, I'd recommend the one I have except that the first one died a bit less than a month after getting it and the second one had a bezel defect. Still other than those build quality issues for a sub $1000 40" 4k@60hz display it might be the best around http://www.amazon.com/Philips-BDM4065UC-Resolution-Speakers-DisplayPort/dp/B00SCX78JS/

Bro, might try getting the model right first before you talk shit its actually this

I have this Philips and it has been excellent. I built this rig as the last generation of cards was coming out and 4k monitors were kind of slim pickings. I really am happy with the quality of it.

Here is the one I got which ticks all the boxes I think: https://www.amazon.com/Philips-BDM4065UC-Resolution-Speakers-DisplayPort/dp/B00SCX78JS

Edit: It seems to have gotten a lot more expensive, I got it more than half a year ago for around 500 bucks, so if you can find a good deal for it I highly recommend it.
