My current mic has good audio quality for both what you say and what you hear. After two years of flawless performance, I think this bad boy has earned my heart. The only downside is that it is rather expensive.

Seems like you've solved your problem already, but the 2.5mm jack is not "Typical proprietary MS bullshit." - It was the pre-iPhone cellphone mic standard. Plantronics sells a modestly-priced xbox mic, and it seems to be a lot more reliable than that cheap OEM mic.

that one gets good reviews... i need to get a new one too, not willing to put down 50 bucks though on a wireless. they had the regular xbox ones for six bucks yesterday (their pricing is so weird) back up to 10 today though.

If online retail is an option for you i highly recommend this.

Sound quality is great, a lot louder than the standard 360 headset. it also picks up you voice quicker than the 360 headset so the first of what you're saying doesn't get cut off.

Comfort is ok. The headset is a bit heavier than the 360 one, but whats a few ounces added to that 20 pound head?

Wired with the same controls as the 360 headset on the wire.

Durability is great it seems to be made out of some higher quality plastic.

Value is wonderful, one of the cheapest on amazon.

Support is idk. i've never had any issues with it

I play both console and PC, there's serious positives and negatives to both but I want to set a few things straight.

controllers, keep in mind this is the equivalent of buying a mouse and keyboard for PC gaming and Alot of PC gamers own $50+ mice/keyboards.

Yes first party Wireless controllers are $50 new, but they're usually on sale for $40 or less wired are $40 new but again usually on sale, I got mine a few months ago for $25

Also there's some decent enough third party controllers that cost less such as afterglow And some that cost a little more This is Xbox prices mind you, they're the more expensive of the two and there's considerably less third party support on the Xbox

Headsets

The best (in my opinion) mono set for the Xbox is $10 But usable ones are as cheap as [$5] (http://www.amazon.com/KMD-Xbox-360-Live-Gaming-Headset/dp/B003A71XKQ/ref=pd_cp_e_0). Stereo headsets cost a bit more at $30 and up but thats the same on the PC too.

Also console games drop in price relatively quickly with one exception, the COD series.

Otherwise I agree with you.

This is what I use.

From the look of it this is and older but cheaper version of the current default headset. Or you can buy this one.

Too expensive from Gamestop. I recommend this one.

It's a bit finnicky on picking up my voice as I talk fairly softly, especially at night, and I can't wear it around my neck as just a mic without practically yelling, but it's comfortable and has held up better than my MS mics.
