You should check out the Plugable TKL. I have one I'm working on a review for right now. It's quite possibly the best board in the $50> range. Steel plate, doubleshot keycaps, white backlighting. It's hard to find all of that at this price range. There is also a full-sized version for $10 more.

The one downside is, because this line of boards is new, it only comes with Outemu Blue switches currently, which are okay, assuming you don't mind clicky switches.

The Magicforce is also a decent choice. Doesn't have as many features or as nice of build quality, but it's $5 cheaper for the basic model with Outemu switches. Comes in Blue, Black or Brown switches, with more options on the more expensive models.

Like another user suggested, you can head on over to a secondhand market like /r/mechmarket, eBay, etc and hunt down something "nicer" like a Cooler Master Quickfire for $50 or so, assuming you don't mind used items.

Doubt you're going be able to fit both a keyboard and mouse in that budget unless you're willing to skimp on one or the other.

The Velocifire TKL01 is the cheapest backlit keyboard I know of at $30, but the word is the switches are terrible. The EagleTec KG010 is $40 and the switches should be okay. For $42 you could get a Plugable 87 which would be my choice at this budget (and tenkeyless is better than fullsize anyway).

You could skimp on the mouse (which is much easier to do anyway) which means being able to afford a better mechanical keyboard.

u/alose · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Do you care about noise? If not, Plugable 87 key is probably the best budget option less than $50. Other wise you will need to compromise on something. I would say compromise on the F row and get a Magicforce68.

u/stokastisk · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Looking for budget (<$60 USD) mech kb, preferably TKL with blues/browns/something equivalent. Backlighting is nice but not necessary.
Currently I'm looking at this [Pluggable one] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M301Q50/ref=crt_ewc_img_dp_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3HIHADV23VGU1).
This gigabyte also seems good. Is the price difference worth it for the pluggable?

u/IBM_Necromancer · 3 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I would reccomend you check out the Plugable TKL. It's very cheap and from what I've heard it's pretty well made.

u/kylestephens54 · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

I am just generally confused as to what keys are *actually* quiet but give that same mechanical, clickly feel to them. Are Browns actually quiet? I've never used them before but would like to buy a 'queiter' keyboard for work so that I can enjoy using a mechanical keyboard at work.

For reference, I bought a cheap mechanical keyboard which I have enjoyed thus far but it has blues:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M301Q50/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This is definitely too loud for work. My work's IT hands out these keyboards which I am currently using:

https://www.amazon.com/Dell-FBA_884116173823-Keyboard-KB212-B/dp/B00U7QJ1DY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1525184631&sr=8-2&keywords=kb212-b+keyboard&dpID=41W53hSjsvL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

It's clacky, but not in a mechanical keyboard kind of way. Does anyone have suggestions on a MX brown/knock off for under 50 that is actually quiet? Seems like most of the time i find a keyboard that fits what I am looking for most people say the keyboard is terrible.

u/nycbeerman · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

This Plugable is really nice or the price. Solid build quality, NKRO and white backlit for ~40. A little clickier than my Masterkeys S, but the outemu switches still feel nice.

There you go.

The Plugable 87-key is pretty good but it's a bit over $40. You could probably find a keyboard on sale or buy a decent used keyboard otherwise, just look on /r/buildapcsales or slickdeals.com from time to time.

u/AnimeAlvin · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Which budget TKL should I get: The Reddragon K552 or the Plugable recommended by the wiki?

u/tcmalloc · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Looking to get my first mechanical keyboard with a budget of around £50, Have my eye on these 4.

Redragon K552-N KUMARA Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (Black)

Plugable Compact 87-Key Mechanical Keyboard

James Donkey 619 Mechanical Keyboard Red Switch

E-Element Z-88

I do a good amount of typing and gaming & noise doesn't matter much to me, nor do any extras. Advice?

u/mgoblu3 · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Plugable TKL or MagicForce 68 maybe work. Some Corsairs and Logitechs got down to about $60 I believe.

u/ziiWix · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

do you mean this?
https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Mechanical-Enthusiasts-Backlighting-Double-shot/dp/B01M301Q50/ref=sr_1_26?ie=UTF8&qid=1494010167&sr=8-26&keywords=Plugable&refinements=p_89%3APlugable%2BTechnologies%7CPlugable%2Cp_n_shipping_option-bin%3A3242350011&th=1

if so, then I have 2 things I can order:
this one which costs 59.03USD in total (the 87keys one), or 65.16USD in total (the 104keys one)

or the Redragon which costs 48.3USD in total.

is it worth it to add 10-15USD for the keyboard? Because every USD is 4 of my currency, which adds up for a lot.

u/flubbateios · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Mechanical-Enthusiasts-Backlighting-Double-shot/dp/B01M301Q50/ comes with Gaote blues (widely regarded as superior to cherry mx blue; they are more tactile). The ugly logo comes off with alcohol if you want to get rid of that.

If you want to spend a bit more, https://www.amazon.com/Rantopad-MXX-Mechanical-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B0186S2GYA is a good option. Good build quality, Gaterons (smoother than Cherries; very popular in the keyboard community) and good reviews.

u/JarateKing · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

If you like loud, sharp, clicky switches, there's the magicforce68 and the plugable tkl, both with Outemu blues (you can get the magicforce in other switch types, but they will either be more expensive (Gateron brand instead) or terrible (anything of Outemu's that's not blue)).

Though you really should look into upping that budget, right now we're talking the cheapest budget boards that aren't terrible. For a good entry-level keyboard that'll really feel like quality, I'd be looking more into the range of $100-130.

u/Beer_Is_So_Awesome · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

I just looked up Rantopad, but there are some reports on Amazon of entire rows of switches going out.

From there, I found this keyboard which isn't terribly pretty but the reviews are almost immaculate, and it also comes with blue-style switches.

I have the full size one as my first keyboard and it has been great.

u/sfrvtma · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

One last noob question: what are DSA Subliminated caps? Will they work with Cherry MX or, for example, the Plugable TKL I’ve been thinking about buying? (https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Performance-TKL-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B01M301Q50?th=1&psc=1)

Removed the cooler. Stock one is solid.

X370 is really unnecessary. B350 boards do everything they need to do.

Cheaper, faster RAM.

Cheaper SSD, with more storage. Just as fast.

Cheaper HDD. That's really all. Quiet, fast, good to go.

Much better GPU for your budget. Should devour any game you throw at it.

Much better case. The P400S has pretty mediocre airflow, and the build quality isn't that great. Meshify C is awesome, though. Stellar airflow, easy to build in, very quality materials, tinted tempered glass, filters everywhere.

The NEX PSUs aren't very good quality (they're fine, but not great) and have a lot of issues with coil whine. The G2 is phenomenal, though.

Cheaper monitor (ignoring Newegg Marketplace) with a better quality stand.

$80 non-mechanical keyboard? Nah, nah. Plus, Razer makes really mediocre peripherals. The Plugable is solid, though. PCPP has it labeled at the same price as that Razer keyboard, but it's actually cheaper on Amazon than PCPP's got it for, which is why it's got a custom price of $41.95.

Any questions? Feel free to ask!

I'd look at the Plugable TKL board. They use outemu switches too, but I think the outemu blues in particular are better than what Cherry has to offer.

u/CrowsOfWar · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

Long post, sorry...

I'm a programmer looking at getting started with blank mechanical keyboards, my current one is rather old and dusty. (entry level, less than $100, preferably even less)

I know this board isn't technically "recommended" but I was thinking about buying the Plugable keyboard since it has outemu blue switches (I've heard they're about as good as cherry) and white backlighting (don't want any other colors, as my pc is white/black themed). Then I would attach a blank Max keycap set.

My main question is, is the keycap set compatible with the keyboard? I'm not sure about the size of spacebar, but the amazon page says keyboard is compatible with ANSI layout keycaps. Also any other recommendations for board/keycaps would be helpful.

Thanks for taking the time to read this long post

u/Catszeid · 1 pointr/MechanicalKeyboards

There is this board on Amazon that seems to be decent based on the reviews.
