If you had something like this you could just put the whole sandwich in there. It's a whole lot easier.
That Black&Decker one looks like a good choice.
The one we use for testing is a Proctor Silex 31111.
In general, I suspect that small cheap toasters will work better than bigger ones because they heat up and cool down faster.
