You’re welcome! Very easy to change it up depending on what you have too...

Change the peas to another vegetable

Add curry paste or other spices when frying the onions

Add coconut milk instead of stock

Add canned tomatoes instead of stock

Add in a handful of lentils with the veg and boil a bit longer

Also: I saw you hate chopping onions. I bought something similar to this (sorry if linking not allowed) and although it takes more effort washing up, I find it is worth it for hassle free chopping. Much cheaper long term than buying pre-chopped onions all the time which are way more expensive than regular onions here in the UK.

You should be able to grind up turkey meat at home using a small food processor. I have a very cheap 1 1/2-cup model that I got at Walgreens for like $10. Amazon

Depending on how much garlic you use, and how small you want to make it, you can also consider a mini food processor. It's great for everything from a rough chop to a mince, but you won't get truly perfect paste. Not that many recipes need that to begin with.

I use something like this in the kitchen I work at. Works beautifully. I know they look like a novelty, but they can be very effective for small batches. I usually make a cup or two at a time, then keep the minced garlic in the fridge for use in the next couple of days.

Baked sweet potato mashed with some butter and sprinkled with a little brown sugar and cinnamon. Some steakhouses have it on the menu but you could just make one at home. Wash the potato then put it on a baking sheet in the oven at 350F for 30-45 minutes. Then peel and mash. You can also jab it with a fork a few times and stick it in the microwave for about 5 minutes. I think the oven baked ones have a better flavor.

If he doesn't protest that he is being treated like a baby, I would try to get him to eat a pureed version of his regular favorites. Get a small food processor like this one. Also try the hospital food yourself. It is often way under-seasoned. If you or other family members know how he likes his food, you might be able to spice it up enough to make him eat it.

You know, I just got this super cheap but small processor. Small is important because you may decide you don't need to make 3 weeks worth of food in one batch. Dishwasher safe is big and an easy to remove blade.

I've been using this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00006IUX0/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?qid=1396216715&sr=1-8&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70 to make popsicles and breakfast mish mash for ny toddler. Goes through frozen fruit and raw baby carrots easy too.

If you're not going to be making stuff like pastry dough, you won't need a really big one. I have this guy, super cheap and great quality for what my needs. For $15, it's awesome.

You should get:

1.Black Flats -> You can match them up with literally EVERYTHING, and you'll wear them more than once.

2.Necklace -> These are SUPER matchable (if that's even a word.) They can make any plain old shirt pop and give it an extra fashionable kick. I'd go with orange and/or White

3.Scarf -->Fall is coming and then Winter, this is SUCH a good acessory to make you warmer and look better, you can wear it around your neck or as a headband It's a cream color so It's super easy to wear with anything; you could even wear your flats ;)

4.Food Chopper -->Think of how easy it would be to make some salsa or guacamole with this! (Now my mouth's watering)

5.Tie Hanger--> You can so use it to hang headbands and belts and scarfs, not just ties! Mess be gone!

6.Shot Glasses--> These ensure a fun night, and who doesn't need shot glasses? There's never enough!

7.Too Faced Matte Collection--> I know for myself I always think, oh I don't want to pay that much for makeup but you know what? It's worth it. Too Faced is such a good brand and the combinations are endless, they're very well pigmented and work so good.

Total: $99.44

I have an extra tip for you! Don't buy elf products from here, they're 50% more expensive and if you buy them on their webpage and spend 25 or more, you get free shipping and they ALWAYS have special offers.

Go Ben

I think you should go with several things from your list.

Chopper You need one of these and they are fun to use.

Practical but cool

Less Practical but still very useful

What SHOULD you make for dinner? Buy this book so you don't have to ask that question.

And tea to enjoy while using all of the other things

For this kind of job, a little guy like this does a fine job. It's a bit tricky if you want anything other than 'puree' but it's great for things like hummus or guacamole.

I've recently gotten into cooking. I've been trying to eat better and not eat so much fast food. I never really liked cooking. The extent of my cooking was making pasta. Recently though, within the last month, I've tried several different recipes. I've actually found out that I love cooking and I'm pretty good at it too! There are some recipes that have failed, but I've learned to eat better and enjoy making healthy food. Although I love cooking, I don't have a food processor which I've found may be helpful while cooking. I've always wanted one, but for whatever reason, I've never gotten one.

Thanks for hosting!
