FYI (and maybe this should be in teh FAQ?) MCT stands for "medium-chain triglyceride" which is a chemical description of a class of oils, primarily found in palm kernel oil and coconut oil. Follow the link for comments on the health implications.

You can buy MCT oil by the bottle and people do, in order to mix it into a product like Keto Fuel or Chow in order to raise the calories without adding either carbs or oils considered "bad" like corn oil.

However you can also make an oil into a powder by just mixing the oil with something that is an edible powder. Google "oil powder" and you find lots of recipes for making olive oil powder, for example, and these all use either tapioca powder or pure maltodextrin. But that would not be what Aussielent did because those powders are sugars, i.e. carbs, i.e. not what you want in a keto mix! Dunno what Aussielent used, it just says "MCT powder", but here is an MCT oil powder in which the powder component is "soluble corn fiber, sodium caseinate, sunflower lechitin[sic]".

Magnesium. Is that in them? I tried the Calming Nature or whatever it's called after reading about potassium and magnesium (your body needs both for the minerals to be able to cross the cell membrane, and they both are responsible for so much). It's a powder you mix in water, and I was generous with my scoops... o.m.g. Terrible. There's a perfect description for it that I hate, but we'll just call it shooting right through you. I've been afraid to try it again, though it's supposed to help sleep, so I tried like a half dose (with no side effects). I'm still wary of it though. I figure I probably get a decent amount from leafy greens, and I supplement potassium with Nu-Salt (tastes like table salt).

If you were going for the vanity, like me, I actually use a collagen powder... I actually LOVE the creamy smoothness of Quest coconut powder so I use it in my coffee, and another redditor suggested Vital Proteins powdered collagen - it's flavorless, but a scoop of each and a dash of SF vanilla syrup, and my simple Mr. Coffee coffee tastes creamy, with toasted vanilla, and a nice dose of fat/protein in it that fills me up. It's supposed to help hair, nails, and your skin. I've been using it for 3 weeks now - I had bad nails before, and I noticed I've had a flurry of having to trim my crappy nails (snags and stuff) but I think it's actually from growing faster, the old growth of icky nails is being quickly grown out for the better stuff underneath. If i'd been smart, I'd have buffed my nails so I could physically see the growth line from when I started! Hmmm... Maybe I'll do that now, so I have new growth minus-3 weeks to compare.

To answer your question, I'm having full on collagen, sometimes 3-4 scoops of it (10g per scoop) and absolutely no tummy trouble.

A couple of questions:

Has anyone flown with KetoChow? Even assuming that it's in the checked luggage, I'm not sure what TSA would think of traveling with powders.

Has anyone tried powdered oils? I ran across Quest's powdered MCT and Coconut oils, and the idea of not needing refrigerated cream would make making ketochow easier in the office.
