The wife and I have and use chest harnesses for our dogs, this way you have control of the torso not the neck.
If you have a tack shop / horse stable in your area, look for a horse lead leash
this is an Amazon link but you can buy them anywhere online or at a store.
If you have a large area where you walk your dogs or have a fenced in yard where you let the dog roam, leashes can be bought which are seen at night.
Drowl rags ( old t-shirts or old dish towels )
We buy our dog food at Tractor Supply Company - Grain free. They carrying them in 35 nd 50 pound bags.
If you are handy with a jigsaw/screwdriver, build a water bowl and food bowl tray. This way the dog's head doesn't have to bend all the way to the floor to eat or drink. Ours are about 16"-20" about the floor.
IF you have a butcher in the area, cow's knee joints ( if you can get them ) will keep your boy entertained for a few days or even marrow bones from a supermarket butcher ( make friends with those folks back there, we did ).
And because Lowe's and Home Depot ( in our state at least ) allow dogs to brought into the store on a leash. Take the boy on a visit to the box stores and show those people who can put their dogs in a purse who the big dog is. We take our Pit/Mastiff and our Pit/Shepard mix to the store all the time cause why the fuck not d:)
