I would check out the Gigabyte P34G. It has a quad-core Haswell i7, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD + 128GB SSD, on a very high quality 14" 1080p display, with an Nvidia GTX 760M.

It is extremely light and thin (3.5lbs) and games very well. It does get a little noisy and doesn't get great battery life (4 hours at best).

Alternatively, if you want something sleeker, check out the Razer Blade 14. It has virtually the same specs as the Gigabyte, but a single 256GB SSD, and a lesser quality display (still 1080p), but gets 6 hours of battery life, and has a slightly more powerful video card.

i use this, razer blade 14 2013 model.
Intel Core i7-4702MQ 2.2 GHz
8 GB DDR3L SDRAM
256 GB Solid-State Drive (SATA III SSD)
14-Inch Screen, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M

this laptop is like a high end car, great performance (for a laptop, overall its not the most powerful in terms of processing or graphic power), lots of heat being generated, slim body. but it have a limited life. its like a F1, it runs super fast but isnt the most reliable or resistant to shock. Its pretty much the slimmest gaming laptop you can get with a decent discrete graphic card.

rust run great at 900p, i get 50fps, i never get any stuttering or freeze that so many people are complaning about. There are 2 ssd, one for windows and one for steam games.

i paid it about 1000USD, used, in "like new" condition on amazon. i recommend it, but its a risk. i let Rust run afk a few nights to feed a server population, and the battery overheated. i have 2000h of rust on that laptop, and its still running strong except for the battery.

I just saw a very good razor laptop in your budget. I'll get back with an edit as soon as I find it!

EDIT: Found it http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Blade-Gaming-Laptop-256GB/dp/B00FJT51LK

That laptop is going to be quite heavy/thick just to let you know. I would recommend maybe the Razer Blade? http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Blade-Gaming-Laptop-256GB/dp/B00FJT51LK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1411849080&sr=8-2&keywords=razer+blade

The old razerblade will beat the macbook air in almost every way, plus it is cheaper on Amazon. The only con of the razerblade is that the screen isn't the best, it is relatively low resolution (1600x900) with the current laptops now and the viewing angles aren't that great according to reviews. But it has the longest battery life in its class and will probably even exceed your daughter's needs for gaming. I prefer it to the Acer since I demand a quad-core processor, but the Acer is a great option if you don't need one.

I meant this one

Thanks for the suggestions man, i really appreciate this. I really like this one you suggested:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834231320

(though i am still going to shop around a bit)

I suppose you are correct on the pricing i was looking for laptops last night on very little sleep and i suppose my gamer instinct kicked in because my top choice was this:
http://www.amazon.com/Razer-Blade-Gaming-Laptop-256GB/dp/B00FJT51LK/ref=sr_1_1?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1397459722&sr=1-1

Which is DEFINATELY more that i need.... but its so fucking sweet and overpriced! =D...

Once again thanks for your time!

Just a heads up, you can buy the 256 gig version from Amazon for cheaper.

u/Michiganders · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

I would say you should probably look for a 970M.

Look into the Asus ROG GL502. It's probably the closest thing you'll find for what you're looking for, with a 6-8 hour battery, which is much better than most gaming laptops. You can find it for various prices from $1200-$1800 depending on what specs you want it to have.

You could also look into the Razer Blade, but it's currently OOS on amazon. I can't find any that are new.

You could try buying a used Razer Blade 14. There is one in 'Like new' condition on amazon for $1100. https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00FJT51LK/ref=sr_1_2_olp?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1469495350&sr=1-2&keywords=razer+blade+14&condition=used

You can always force a return if it comes in broken or in a worse condition than it is described.

I don't think GS60's 15.6 inches is that bigger. I mean it's still thin and light(for a laptop).

Also there is this Razer but it's fairly weaker than MSIs and it's 2000 CAD.

Razer Blade 14 inch gaming laptop. The thing is a beast and is thin and good looking. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FJT51LK/ref=asc_df_B00FJT51LK3104731?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=nextagcom0f20&linkCode=df0&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B00FJT51LK&ascsubtag=-7961616456786306245

Why is this getting down voted?
I actually read his comment and suggested a great laptop that meets several of the things on his wish list

u/ruskininja · -1 pointsr/gaming

LoL yes, CS:GO, not a chance. You'd be lucky to get 30fps at it's lowest setting. I retract that, it can actually do pretty decent at lower settings (56 fps at 1366x768
Medium settings, better at lower settings) Source. You're not going to be able to get a dedicated graphics card in that tiny form factor unless you get something like a Razer Blade or get something bigger like a Lenovo IdeaPad with SLI GTX 750Ms. A tablet hybrid is out of the question for any decent gaming.
