That would work, but I honestly don't really have much of an issue with it. But I think for me, I've always had IR remotes for decades that I've always had to point somewhere near the device that it's just normal for me.

This is the remote that I currently use for my LE install, I don't have to point directly at it, but somewhat in the general direction. It is honestly the best remote for native Kodi control in general (as these are the remotes the dev team uses, I've talked to them before when I was trying to use a real off off brand remote, they told me to just get an MCE remote and save the headache). Bluetooth remotes or wifi remotes are nice, but you often get a small lag with them. Imagine looking at a long list of files and pressing the down arrow 10 times very quickly. A lot of the remotes I tested wouldn't respond well to that. My remote moves at the speed that I press and never misses a button press. But I have never personally used a WiFi remote, just remember reading about them when I was looking.

Also do a little shopping around and make sure the remote is comfortable, and durable. If money isn't an issue a Harmony remote with a hub might not be a bad option as it can control everything!
