This is already real and happens a lot.

Plugging old hdtvs into certain consoles and or computers and trying to play newly released and secure media can result in HDCP errors.

So you daisy-chain your hdcp/drm compliant cable cord with a custom head, that splits the signal. You can make a custom cable head by hand, but it is waaay easier to just order a premade part, that instead bypasses the drm.. Then you are good to go. Some support bypass with single output mode. This will be the highest quality option for recording.

Some however support 2 output jacks. The best types of these have a hdcp/drm switch-toggle point.

A tv that does not support hdcp will output sound and video now when plugged into the bypass, and the other display passes the check as long as it is compliant. Instead of outputting to a screen, you plug in a recording device dvr or some shit, that also doesn't look for the protection to function.

For display port you'll need at least dp1.3 for full quality 4k120khz anything great, you'll likely wanna got 1.4z. Hdmi 2.0 however does 4k at 60fps just fine, but good luck finding a cheap hdmi/displayport 4k recording device.

If you cant do it with the hard or software, then you gotta toy with the signal man, you can't stop the signal man.

Edit: spooling

You'll need an HDMI splitter that bypasses the HDCP. I have this one.

Don't know about an EU equivalent, but it should be the same. The PS3 does the same thing, so any splitter that does the bypass for it will also work for the Vita TV.

YOu might try one of the Cheap HDMI signal splitters -- some of them actually strip the HDCP requirement and would allow the signal to be passed to the display

Here is an article ( https://www.tweaking4all.com/home-theatre/remove-hdcp-hdmi-signal/ ) that has several links to splitters that others have reported working and these are much cheaper than the $300 products ( ie. $18 for this Sanoxy splitter - https://www.amazon.com/SANOXY%C2%AE-splitter-ports-switcher-XBOX360-Blu-ray/dp/B003UYOEMI )

For that price it might be worth trying ! ( IF you look at the comments for the splitter on Amazon many people have reported that it does indeed strip the HDCP signal and works with many older recording devices that are not HDCP compliant - so it might work for your display !)

This HDMI splitter solved all my issues https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UYOEMI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Seems to totally bypass HDCP. It is still enabled in the PS4 OS, and Amazon Instant Video app worked too.

After reading this.
I purchased a splitter and havent had that problem.

yeah good idea! I don't have the TV yet but I have a 32 inch one and a 19" monitor so I just did a quick test of what would be the maximum distance to browse comfortably with each and came up with that :

Which (probably) means the 55" TV would be alright up to 3.5m when my wall is at 3.8m. Guess I'll have to either go for a 60 inch one or get a second screen for the living room.

Your switch idea made me look a little and I found the perfect thing : http://www.amazon.com/SANOXY-splitter-swither-XBOX360-Blu-ray/dp/B003UYOEMI/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1368187456&sr=8-8&keywords=hdmi+splitter if I buy two of those I can clone on 3 or 4 screen without any kind of setup, which is awesome!! For the M/K the computer has no problem having two of each :)

Mine is the same physical box but says "2x1 splitter" on it with no brand name: http://www.amazon.com/SANOXY-splitter-swither-XBOX360-Blu-ray/dp/B003UYOEMI/ref=sr_1_13?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1375191089&sr=1-13&keywords=hdmi+splitter
Only problem I have with it is, PS3 only, when it switches into a game it makes a loud chip through the TV speakers (I think it's the resolution change that does it)

Issue is likely caused by HDCP encryption. You can get something like this to strip it out before it hits the recorder.
https://www.amazon.com/SANOXY%C2%AE-splitter-ports-switcher-XBOX360-Blu-ray/dp/B003UYOEMI

Several Amazon reviews state the Gamecaster supports HDCP (DRM, which blocks the signal) so to unblock the signal you'd need a device like the above to strip out the block before it goes into the gamecaster so you get the video feed.

You would need this, or something like it to convert HDMI out from the PS4 to VGA in on the projector:

Cable Matters Active HDMI To VGA Adapter with Micro-USB Power In Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00879DM56/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_BxX1xbPGHRE0Z

Note - you will not get audio through this setup, so you may have to make considerations for audio like an amp with optical in. Also, that projector has very low resolution and brightness- your games will likely look like shit. Also also, that adapter is probably not HDCP compliment - so the PS4 might complain and not display any games or movies. In that case you would need an HDMI splitter:

https://www.amazon.com/SANOXY%C2%AE-splitter-ports-switcher-XBOX360-Blu-ray/dp/B003UYOEMI

If you need the splitter you would plug an HDMI cable into the PS4 and into the input side on the splitter. Then out one of the outputs on the spiltter would plug into the VGA adapter. Then VGA adapter to VGA cable to the input on the projector.
