Your paying extra for the Xbox green which is abandoned on the console itself. Like others on here I use a 5TB seagate which sells on Amazon for $130 Amazon. I've been using it for over a year and loving it, It even looks like a mini Xbox. The one I'm linking I think is a newer model then the other one previously linked this is why they have a different look. http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Desktop-External-Storage-STDT5000100/dp/B00J0O5R2I
5TB External from Amazon - $159.99
4TB Internal from Amazon - $169.99
No, I wouldn't risk it. This is likely a drive that has been taken out of an enclosure, which means you may have to work with the seller on replacements. These 5TB drives can be found new in cases for around $120-130. I have 6 of these in my array, I broke them out of enclosures my self.
People have asked the same question in the past as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/3200rl/buyer_beware_cheap_5tb_seagate_barracuda/
They come from these:

best deal in town 5tb external for 140 two day shipped http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Backup-Desktop-External-STDT5000100/dp/B00J0O5R2I
Yes, but not all enclosures work. I originally picked up 2 of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Desktop-External-Storage-STDT5000100/dp/B00J0O5R2I/
I could not get a full 5tb to format. I took the drives out and put them inside these enclosures and they work fine:

Honestly I think you would want more than 500GB. I use Seagate. I think all of them are compatible with Xbox. This is what I have, You can select your storage if you would like.
Much shorter and cleaner link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J0O5R2I/
No idea if OP gets referral money or what. But it's not a good sign that the account is 0 days old.
EDIT: The original deal linked for this post has ended, but Amazon is still offering it for $150.
I also found it on Amazon for the exact same price. Checking the price history makes it seem they are trying to compete with this deal:
http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Backup-Desktop-External-STDT5000100/dp/B00J0O5R2I
And it looks like Newegg will be selling this same drive for $10 cheaper on Black Friday:

So whaddya think, /r/xboxone? I just killed what little space my Xbox One's internal drive had left (thanks, MCC) and I really need to expand my storage. Kind of on a timer with this as it is a deal only available today, but I need to know if I should pursue this drive or look elsewhere. Thanks for any and all help!
I just picked up this 5TB Seagate yesterday. The finish is exactly the same as the shiny side of the Xbox, so it looks fantastic on top of it.

It really comes down to the read/write speed requirements she'll have. With a 256GB SSD and some file management, you could keep your working files on the SSD for max IO speed, and move archived projects onto an external drive that runs on something like USB 3.0. SSDs aren't totally necessary for anything but the most bandwidth-intensive jobs like editing 4K video. For graphic design work, file sizes are reasonable and you don't need to constantly be reading tons of data, so a regular external HDD should be fine.
We use this Seagate 5TB drive that comes well recommended by Wirecutter for Time Machine backups, and it'd also work well for storing data for your wife.
Some nodes haven't any incentives now to maintain themself other than maintaining the network.
They are doing it for free now.
After a possible increase of the space, this is the cost of a 5 TB hd:
http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Desktop-External-Storage-STDT5000100/dp/B00J0O5R2I/
I'm sure that there are cheaper.
There are also other nodes that are maintained by the industry, and by making the Bitcoin money more liquid, the market will increase.
With a bigger market and then more services, there will be more nodes that are needed to be sure to know what is happening on the network.
Miners don't seem to have problem of money for buying a new hd...
Bought mine for $114.99.

Yeah I got this one for $130 on black friday: http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Backup-Desktop-External-STDT5000100/dp/B00J0O5R2I
Pretty good deal.
Seagate taken out of its external enclosure, I use it with a Nyko Data Bank. It's possible to fit a 4TB laptop drive in the PS4 bay too though, I may switch to that in the future.

Is this Seagate 5TB a good buy? It's the only one that will ship to my location.
Dont do it! Spend just a bit more! Trust me, it's worth it for that extra gig.
Under 6000 dollars? 700TB at $6000 would be $8.57 per TB. The cheapest consumer-avalible storage I've found is this Seagate External Hard-Drive (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J0O5R2I/ref=crt_ewc_title_dp_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) at $26 per TB. Then you have to add on the cost of the Motherboard(s), CPU(s), Power Supply(s), Case(s) and extra drives for redundancy.
Also worth noting that the drive I just posted is SMR, and has slow write performance. It's also an external drive so you would have to shuck it.
Assume you went up to 8TB drives. If you don't have any redundancy, you would probably need 90 drives total. We're talking about two Backblaze storage pods here.
Not cheap. A fun thing to think about though.
There might be a newer version by now, but I use this. Any Western Digital or Seagate external should be fine. I leave it unplugged when not in use so it's not susceptible to power surges (which is why I don't recommend RAID, if something is bad enough to kill one disk it will kill all of them).
So use an external drive like this? And return the 2nd internal drive? It's about a $60 price difference.

A 5 TB external hdd for $139 is pretty hard to beat.

Is it this one?
http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Desktop-External-Storage-STDT5000100/dp/B00J0O5R2I
yeah, it's actually pretty easy just plug and play for the most part, pretty simple. I have a 5TB Seagate drive I got a few years ago for $130 on sale and I've already filled it to 50% since I buy a lot of games and download them all and never uninstall them.
This is the drive I got - Seagate 5TB USB 3.0 Back-up drive It's as fast or faster than the standard Xbox One HDD in pretty much every game I've tested. However, I'm fairly sure there are better options for you and your storage needs.
You can get a Seagate 5TB on Amazon for 120 right now. 4TB is 119.

Oh I wouldn't either. We need sales. But doesn't mean we need to buy into it too.
I purchased this drive for 99.99 for 2 tb more. Many drives go on sale. https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Desktop-External-Storage-STDT5000100/dp/B00J0O5R2I
5TB drives usually go for $115-$130 on Amazon. I would spend a little more and get nearly 5x the amount of storage.

I have this Seagate external connected all the time to my server PC as a back up target for all my laptops. Pretty much on all the time, currently has 9,351 hours, just a bit over a year.
5TB for $10 less comes with a free usb 3.0 external bay.
