If you are looking to upgrade your memory I would not use hat data bank or spend $100.00 on that hard drive. If you want a 2 TB hard drive then consider buying one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Backup-Portable-External-STDR2000102/dp/B00FRHTTIU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1475263394&sr=8-4&keywords=2+tb+hard+drive+seagate

Its more cheaper in my opinion and installation is pretty simple. All you need to do is open it download the software so that the hard drive functions on the ps4 and then just put it in. If you have ps plus your games data is saved in the cloud.

u/Launchers · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

Depends, most seem to be 5400rpm.

This drive can have the internal removed and you'll end up with this.

Of course this is done by me looking real quick and finding a $70 one. I can guarantee if you search enough you can find external 7200rpm drives on sale and get a bunch of them. Removing the shell is very easy and you can resell them for like $5.

I'm using this one. But it doesn't work out of the box. You have to remove the drive from the housing to get it to work. Here is a handy guide that walks you through the entire process.

u/newmilwaukee · 2 pointsr/PS4

Update on the 2TB drive? did it work without a hitch?

Did you buy the 139.99 one? or the 99$? ( I'm an online Noob shopper. Never bought online, so I'm not sure what 'bid' means. I thought you just bought something at the price it was listed. Also, I'm Canadian, so I may have to look for other offers)

and did you see this?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FRHTTIU/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Little removal process and you've got the same thing, but with a neat blue case for recycle and a little cheaper.

TL:DR- Did the HDD work fine? What did you pay?

EDIT: ignore the amazon post. Looking at other option, you save nothing. They're all roughly 110$ give or take a couple dollars.

Your 2mb up connection isn't that big. Streaming video offsite is going to kill your internet performance.

Here's your solution: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FRHTTIU/

u/FoN925 · 2 pointsr/PS4

Considering how quick and easy it is to upgrade the PS4s internal HDD, I'd honestly go ahead and start looking into it ASAP. I wouldn't imagine that constantly reformatting your HDD is terribly good for it, and if anything, may end up shortening it's life.

This guide is the best I've found, and I've personally used it every time I've replaced a PS4 HDD (a total of four PS4s now).

And this is the hard drive I used to upgrade my own PS4. I've been using it for 2 years and have never had a single problem with it, even after multiple power outages.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Both are 5400rpm external portables WD 1tb and Seagate Slim 2TB USB 3.0

For the enclosure, I went with the [BUD Industries CU-247](http://www.amazon.com/BUD-Industries-CU-247-Aluminum-Econobox/dp/B005T7RNE0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1405999009&sr=8-3&keywords=cu-247
). I created a template of the mounting holes and cut the box accordingly.

I found this barrel jack at radioshack and I liked it: [barrel jack](http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102486&znt_campaign=Category_CMS&znt_source=CAT&znt_medium=RSCOM&znt_content=CT2032231
)

Adafruit has HDMI and Ethernet panel mount cables: Ethernet, [HDMI](https://www.adafruit.com/products/978
)
A local micro center opened up near me and found this great little hub, [Inland 7 port usb](http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817205010&cm_re=inland_7_port-_-17-205-010-_-Product
), it was cheap since it doesn't come with a wall adapter. There was no need since I desoldered the existing barrel jack and wired it to the switch and panel mount barrel jack.

Front panel Switch: Waterprooof Metal ON/OFF Switch

Fan found on Newark/Element 14: Sunon 5v fan or you can get [NMB 5v fan] (http://www.newark.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=15003&langId=-1&urlRequestType=Base&partNumber=64K2283&storeId=10194). I desoldered one of the usb from the hub and connected the fan directly to it. I also didn't want dust picked up by the fan, so I bought a [fan filter assembly](http://www.newark.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=15003&langId=-1&urlRequestType=Base&partNumber=56P2964&storeId=10194
) as well.

I picked up a WD my passport ultra 2 TB but I decided I wanted more space, so I bought a seagate backup plus slim 2TB since it was slimmer. It also worked out for the bracket I used to hold them in. Kingwin 2 bay PCI-E HDD Frame

I also picked up some cables: Right Angle USB for the RPi, Right angle usb 3.0 cables for the HDDs, and a double right angle USB cable.

I used Sugru for mounting the RPi, HDD frame, and holding the hub in place.

It wasn't shown in the pictures, but I also picked up a FLIRC so I can use any remote. I do know that the RPi can send commands over CEC as well with new TVs.

I was looking to make more of these units, so If anyone is interested in buying, let me know.

u/AdachiNarukami · 1 pointr/PS4

might try that. I used this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FRHTTIU/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_71?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

but I used that with like 3 other PS4s with no issues.

I just got this one over the weekend. My PS4 is sitting pretty on 1.77TB now. Can't beat the price.

hopefully someone who knows sees this since i'm not too sure where to post elsewhere..
i'm finally planning on getting a new hd for my ps4.. this one, but.. i'm wondering about one stupid thing that probably doesn't even matter.. what does the last digit in "STDR2000102" mean? it goes from 0-3.

also, any idea if i should wait (new release/price drop soon) or no?

Thanks for the info! I just wanted to clarify and make sure I’m understanding you.

So I have a MacBook Pro 2016 so it should have the NVME SSD right ?

You said in order to take advantage of thunderbolt you need a drive faster than usb 3. Are you talking about the drive in the computer or the external harddrive ?

lacie 2 TB

So I was looking at this 2 TB harddrive with thunderbolt. It’s 169

Versus the usb 3.0 2 TBs that are like 60 bucks from WD or Seagate.

I’m trying to figure out which I should buy .

u/LoloGuinazu1998 · 1 pointr/PS4

It's worth it man. I used this one

Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB Portable External Hard Drive with Mobile Device Backup USB 3.0 (Blue) STDR2000102 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FRHTTIU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_V0Gzyb97ZA47Q

When I bought it it was $70 (3 months ago)

I priced match at my local target. You gotta remove the casing but it's very simple with a flat head screwdriver. I think the guide also shows you how to remove it and format it.

I'd take care of the hard drive before messing withe the PS4

Make sure you back up your saved data to the cloud first if you have PlayStation plus. Otherwise a flash drive will work.

https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Backup-Portable-External-STDR2000102/dp/B00FRHTTIU/

79 cheap enough for ya? :P It's cheaper to buy this hdd as an external and then to open it up and extract the bare drive out of it. Of course if that sounds annoying (and it was hardly) then you can search the model and see if the price difference sways you any. I removed it without any drama and I'm using this exact one in my PS4 Pro, no issues. Q&A and the first review detail steps to extracting the drive for PS4 usage. :)

For my PS4 I installed the 2tb version here

Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB Portable External Hard Drive with Mobile Device Backup USB 3.0 (Blue) STDR2000102 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FRHTTIU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_0sohybWB6KCVM

Does anyone know if this fatter 4tb would work in the Pro? I don't see a height in mm of this drive.

Seagate Backup Plus 4TB Portable External Hard Drive with 200GB of Cloud Storage USB 3.0, Blue (STDR4000901) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0196J3UZ2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Mqohyb92DEFXG

> any suggestions on a HD I should buy?

This one is good. The 1TB version is about $35 less.

u/CesarM11 · 1 pointr/Surface
u/Hugh_Jankles · 1 pointr/AlternativeAmazonVGF

Well, this HD has a nicer look to compliment a XBOS. The White with the black Xbox Stamp.

> a free one-month Xbox Game Pass subscription for the 2TB unit, and a two-month free subscription for the 4TB unit. That’s a $10 and $20 savings, respectively.

So with the $10 towards the Xbox Game Pass for the 2TB unit, which is why you would be buying this anyhow, makes this 2TB unit $80. Just $5 more than the Standard WD 2TB

If you are just in the market for a HD & aren't interested in the Xbox Game Pass then this makes no sense to get unless you just want a "Xbox" branded external.

For what it's worth, the cheapest 2TB External Hard Drives on Amazon.Com are Seagate at $72.
