I carry one of these with me on my keys. They're very durable and they seem to last me about 2 years of abuse. They're small enough you could keep one in your wallet in a corner.

how are they going to prevent someone from bringing in something smaller than the size of a postage stamp? There are thumb drives that small.

You seem pretty set on that usb key; just throwing in my 2 cents. I had this usb drive on my keys for 4 years and it worked like a champ. It's a good bit smaller than the key one you had, because it doesen't have the additional metal of the part that goes on the ring. I got 6 inches of 2mm? climbing line (edit: to attach it to a keyring), and it worked quite nicely.

This one's tiny and waterproof.

(Sandisk) MicroSD cards are also waterproof and easier to conceal, but your data would be potentially less accessible.

I looked. Something like this pico usb drive...

... was a thought, but in truth, there's no way you could put it at the end of a 3d printed blade and have it hold up. Too much weight on too small a point.
