The other half of the joke doesn't age quite as well though:
> "That is a $200 plasma TV you've just killed!"
Back when this episode aired, this was a joke because it was a laughably small amount of money to spend on a TV.
Today, $200 isn't that absurd. It will buy you a quite decent budget TV: https://www.amazon.com/TCL-40S305-40-Inch-1080p-Smart/dp/B01N2UQ43P/
Also, I know I'm nitpicking as this point, but that is clearly a LCD TV. I don't think plasmas were ever sold on the consumer market in sizes that small.
Here are some links I found on Amazon for some pretty cheap options (and there will likely be some very good discounts during Black Friday as well)
What I don't get is why there are sometimes a few sellers who price items waaay above market value, even when there are like 10 other sellers and Amazon itself all competing at the bottom. For example: this TV is going for ~$250, but some dude's trying to sell it for $488.
In the same boat as you OP. Amazon has a 40" one from TCL, a brand I'm unfamiliar with, for $270 that I'm thinking about purchasing. If you have a PS4 Pro and want to do 4k there is this 43" one for $350.
Anyone have opinions on TCL?
edit: After glancing around for like two minutes on this sub it seems like TCL certainly won't be as high quality as some of the more expense brand names, but they still produce a pretty solid product for the price.
My TV 120Mz, out of OP budgit but please let me know of a cheper monitor that does what my TV does for the same price.
