This guy has been spouting empty refund promises for quite some time.
In 2015, he vowed to update backers by August 1 of that year and honor refund requests if a manufacturing deal wasn't finalized by that date. He delivered the update on August 18, claiming that "the deal was finalized at the end of July but we had to wait until all terms were finalized before sharing publicly."
That's an actual quotation. In his world, a deal can be finalized before all of its terms are finalized.
Incidentally, a good implementation of the idea is marketed under multiple brands. (I've seen versions from Tripp Lite, Plugable and Stanley, all obviously from the same manufacturer.)
The Tripp Lite variant (which I purchased) has been listed on Amazon since August 25, 2013 – less than three months after the NuPlug's Kickstarter campaign concluded.
I use a mix of Velcro ties and cable clips, but these cable organizers do all the heavy lifting.
