a bit pricey

the shields are custom from their website for another $50. I took a logo off deviantart and gimped it so that colors would match a blue background. just go to their website if you want to know more.

I got the headphones really cheap from amazon so I didn't see the logos as too much of a high cost. iirc it's cheaper if you go with one of their pre-designed logos.

I just picked up a pair of V-Moda M80s in Amazon, and I'm really happy with them. For being on ear, they have great isolation and little bleeding. They're pretty neutral, with warm bass. Great for the genres you listed. And of course, the detachable cable.

The M80 if you really want on ears. Would suggest a UE6000 with a clip on mic, but it already has an inline mic if thats what you're looking for.

HAve a look at the V-Moda M-80 very compact and sleek looking on ear headphone and especially very well build.

The newer version of this headphone comes with a click-fold mechanism, sounds a little better and will only set you back ~170$. Especially the exoskeleton carrying case that comes with these models should be of interest to you :D

These V-MODA M-80s are 65% off for the next five hours on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Crossfade-Noise-Isolating-Headphone-Shadow/dp/B00I9UKKS0/

They are pretty well regarded on head-fi for comfort and not requiring an amp to drive, important criteria for mobile use: http://www.head-fi.org/products/v-moda-crossfade-m-80

I personally use a pair of Fidelio X1s with a one foot headphone cable with the Gear VR.

I personally own a pair of V-MODA Crossfade M-100's with a BoomPro mic and the XL Ear cushions.

Put simply, they are absolutely amazing and would not go with anything else for gaming or music listening. Now, I'm not going to lie, it's very expensive for just a headset, but I'm an audiophile and want the very best out of my sound. If you want something that is amazing but won't kill your wallet, go for the Crossfade M-80's. Biggest bang for your buck.

As for audio quality, my old turtle beach headset couldn't even compare to these. Everything about them is just amazing. They are better than a pair of Beats and most "gaming" headsets. The 3D soundstage makes playing this game (or any game for that matter) an absolute joy with unparalleled audio quality. Wouldn't go for anything else for the price. I cannot stress how good these things are.

As for comfort level, they're pretty good, but you will definitely want the XL cushions. I can play up to 6 hours on end with only two adjustments on my head before my eyes are like "we're done here." Needless to say, they stay very comfortable for extended periods of time.

The BoomPro mic is nice, but not entirely necessary, because the in-line mic that comes with the cable works just fine.

TLDR: If you have the money, BUY THESE HEADPHONES!! And if you're broke go with the M-80's.

Edit: Spelling

Your link is broken btw - this also might be more appropriate in the purchase advice sticky.

That said: it's a pretty decent deal - I've seen a bit lower, but it's the lowest they've ever been on Amazon:

http://camelcamelcamel.com/V-MODA-Crossfade-On-Ear-Noise-Isolating-Headphone/product/B00I9UKKS0

Their average price is around $100-$110.

Never mind those, The V-Moda Crossfade M-80s are only $80!

I'm not sure about full-size headphone durability in the gym, and (against most people here) I'd recommend the Jaybird Bluebuds X bluetooth earbuds. The bluetooth is super convenient in the gym while working out since you don't have to worry about snagging a cable on equipment or a limb. And they sound great for a bluetooth headphone as well, at least from what I've heard.

Of course, if you just want good audio quality for the sacrifice of bluetooth convenience in the gym, I'd go for the DT770 or the [V-Moda Crossfade M80] (http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I9UKKS0/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687442&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00GO4GMAI&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=08FRZS94TD5KHB63DP8K), which are super cheap and practically a steal on Amazon now. They also sound nice if you're into that bass. However, I've heard that if you've got large ears/head then you might want to avoid them because they can get pretty uncomfortable.

I may be of some help. I was in the same position as you a couple months ago.

First you have to decide, wired or wireless.

Wireless: A lot people suggest the ps gold headset ($100). As a gaming headset, they're decent but from what I've read, the sound quality is not great. If all you do is plan to play games with it and you don't care all that much about sound quality then this may be your best wireless option. A better wireless option would be the Astro A50. Reviews seem to say that the sound quality on the A50 is pretty good but this comes at a much higher price ($300 new, $200 refurbished). SteelSeries also makes a good wireless option at the same price point of the Astro.

Wired: If you go on head-fi, everyone will say the best option would be to buy a decent dedicated full-size headphones(price here depends on budget), a separate mic, and something like this to connect to your controller. This is true but I didn't like this option. Having two cables going my controller to my head seemed like a bit of a hassle and I wanted as few wires as possible. I wanted a quality wireless setup, but I couldn't justify spending $300 for a setup I'd only use to game.

I did find the V-Moda boom pro which would replace the cord on their headphone's with an in-line boom mic thus eliminating one more wire. Paired it up with the V-Moda M80(You should be able to use it with anything form the vmoda line, but don't hold me to that, you should be able to find out yourself easily), which to my surprise got great reviews on head-fi. I bought them for around 80 on an amazon lightning deal. They're pretty good, especially considering the whole setup cost ~$100. Build quality is very high, sound quality is good, a little bass heavy IMO but that is perfect for gaming. I also wouldn't mind taking these out with me on the colder months as they're not too bulky. They also come with a pretty cool carrying case.

I'm very happy with this setup now and I think the next step up from here would be to get a wireless setup.

Hope this helps.

Source: I do have quite an extensive headphone collection so I do appreciate a good set of cans.

Along this note, I have some v moda over ear headphones and you can purchase a mic that is compatible. My current setup and I love it. The on ear option is more affordable depending on what your budget is.

Budget - $80 - $120

Source - PC/Android

Isolation - I live in NYC, so isolation is important

Preferred type - Over ear

Preferred tonal - I like bass but not at the expense of drowning out the other ranges

Past headphones - Mostly cheap earbuds and a pair of Sennheiser HD 202 II's which I find to be just okay. They also get pretty warm on the ears.

Preferred music - Hip Hop and electronic with some indie pop mixed in.

The headphones I'm most considering are:

Audio-Technica ATH-M40x

V-MODA Crossfade M-80

Creative Aurvana Live! Headphones

u/rjmana · 1 pointr/headphones

consider the vmoda m80 as well. i know you mentioned wanting bluetooth connectivity, but as the momentum has none of that, i want to throw this into the mix. can be found for 90~ on amazon. has a removable cable and if im not mistaken a hard case as well.

>And also I know nothing about reddit so, am I way out of line with this or can anyone please help me?

You're out of line posting to this subreddit. On reddit, there's an area to the right on every subreddit called the sidebar. You need to read that in order to learn what the subreddit is about, and what's appropriate to post there. This is a sub for discussion of games, so posting a "what should I buy" request here is mistaken.

That said, we're not jerks. If your boyfriend doesn't have a good set of headphones for PC gaming, V-MODA M-80s are on a good sale on Amazon today.

If he didn't ask for that "gaming chair for tv-games", you might want to double-think that purchase. If it's something like this, these sorts of chairs are usually scoffed at by adult gamers. Couch gamers are usually happy with couches. Couches are great.

Don't be discouraged by this reddit experience. Reddit's a nice place if you follow the rules and post relevant content to the right subreddits.

u/StringBoi · 1 pointr/audiophile

Do you want closed or open? Is outside noise a concern? Closed will keep the outside sounds out and avoid sound bleeding to anyone else in the room. Open can give a more natural sound, but you'll most likely hear anyone else watching tv or talking.

V-Modas are quite popular as well, in the open headphone category, the HD558's are quite nice, their earlier version HD555 were my very first pair and they blew me away with their sound/price performance. The 558's would be a nice choice. Cant go wrong with Sennheiser, AKG or Audio Technica...there are plenty of options, really comes down to if you prefer sound isolation or not.

u/MrEleventy · 1 pointr/headphones

Maybe you can try something like this?

Small bluetooth adapter : This / Or this

+

Headphones w/ removable cord : This

When you want wireless, just hook up the bluetooth portion. When you need it wired, plug in the 3.5mm cable.

u/fco2013 · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

For home use only (or on-the-go if you're brave, these all leak sound):

Sennheiser HD558

Sennheiser HD518

AKG K240

Audio-Technica ATH-AD500X

Grado SR80e

For both at home or on the go:

Shure SRH440 *

V-Moda Crossface M80

Sennheiser Momentum on-ear

Sony MDRV6 *

have longer cables.

It's not so much a durability thing but a usability thing. You won't to hear everything going you in the subway while listening to music, and the people around you don't want to hear your music either. So that is why I recommend open headphones for home-use only, and closed back if you need pair for both applications.

For the most these headphones are easy to drive, and you should be able to power them straight out of your phone or computer.

I highly suggest reading reviews for all of these as they are very different from each other. My
personal* picks for each application:

At home:

Grado Sr80e

Both:

Sennheiser momentum

Also check out /r/headphones and head-fi.org, both are great resources.

Looking to get my first pair of on-ear/over ear headphones and need some help!

Budget - No more than $150

Source - Both laptop and iPhone

Requirements for Isolation - I would like a good amount of isolation as I plan on using these both in my apartment (3 roommates so it occasionally gets noisy) and on long trips where I'd like to block out most background noise e.g. on a train or plane. Since I plan on using these to Skype as well, being able to hear myself talk is important, just so I know I'm not shouting or anything (I'm a noob to headphones so for all I know this will never be an issue, but just making sure!)

Preferred Type of Headphone - Definitely closed because I may use them in quiet areas like a library. No innate preference for on-ear or over-ear but they need to be super comfortable (wearable for anywhere from 2-5 hours) and portable

Preferred tonal balance - I would like an overall balanced pair

Past headphones - I've always gotten some of the cheapest IEMs I can find ($15-25) at CVS/Best Buy, or the Apple earbuds. Right now I'm using a pair of Philips IEMs, no idea of the model.

Preferred Music - I listen to a lot of indie rock, indie pop, but also anything from dream pop to post-rock to the occasional hip-hop.

Other important info: I'd like to use the headphones for a wide range of activities: Music, TV shows/movies, Skyping, and gaming. I'm not a hardcore FPS gamer (more into RPGs and relaxed multiplayer games), and I care more about noise isolation than sound stage, but I don't want the headphones to be considered crappy for gaming either. But my standards are pretty low: As long as they fulfill the same quality that a cheap pair of CVS earbuds gives me when gaming, then I'm fine with it.

A few headphones have caught my eye: V-MODA Crossfade M80 (I know they're on-ear so I'm worried about long-term comfort), the V-MODA Crossfade LP (probably more comfortable than the M80?), and the AT ATH-M50 since they seem like a very popular entry-level choice

I'm open to a lot of suggestions as long as they are closed, very comfortable, decently portable, and are acceptable to use for gaming. Thanks!

The HyperX Cloud is a classic recommendation if you want a cheap (~$60) headset with some decent sound behind it.

If you want to make the most of your money I'd recommend the V-Moda M-80 and hook a V-Moda BoomPro to it. Excellent sound and a good mic to go with it, plus the M-80 are very portable and will work well hooked to a phone on the move (with the original cable). You may have to shop around a bit to find this combo for $140, usually it's $10-20 more.

If the budget is fixed and you can't find them cheaper, swap the M-80 for Logitech UE6000 or some Philips SHP9500 (they work with the BoomPro).

Woah, just checked prices on Amazon US and they're on sale for $107 at the moment. o.O
