Personally I tend to stay away from gaming audio. Imo the best bang for the buck is buying a separate set of headphones and a microphone. This video has some really good tips on what to buy for around 50 bucks. There are different iterations of the video with different pricepoints, so my recommendation is watching the video with your pricepoint and going from there. My current audio setup is the V-Moda LP2 with the XL pads and the Boompro microphone

u/MasterHWilson · 4 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

Been tracking these for a few weeks now, typical price was $310-320 for all the colours. Seem to be a wireless version of the M100 (which is also on sale) but still works in wired mode. Well respected, slightly bass heavy, built like a tank, and stylish. Kicks the shit out of Beats any time.

Also currently same price in Canada as US to give you an idea of savings.

Also look into the XL-Pads available. Apparently the stock earcups are too small.

u/EvenJesusGotDrunk · 4 pointsr/headphones

For $90? Absolutely. Especially if the wireless is important to you, then it's a no-brainer. Then I would just sell the LP2's afterwards to recover the $90.

Also, unless you love the standard earpads, it's definitely worth it to get these for the extra comfort: www.amazon.com/dp/B00K3K8TKA/

More pictures! Shot on a Canon EOS 70D with a standard 18-55 mm lens. Obligatory shout out to /r/buildapc for teaching me how to build the nice white box that is my workstation.

So I picked the studio monitors (KRK Rockit 8's, these are the older 2nd generation models) off of craigslist for $250 on craigslist back in December and those were suiting me so well that I decided to give a headphone upgrade a shot!

After lots of searching on here I found the V-Moda M100's and instantly fell in love with the aesthetic as well as the sound signature. I pulled the trigger on those about 2 weeks ago and they are fantastic! The sound is v-shaped and warm, a bit bass heavy compared to my monitors but there is still enough clarity for me to enjoy them.

I originally had the stock pads on them and could only wear them for about 2 hours before my ears got too sore. (I wear glasses so the pressure of the pad onto my ear and the frame was horrible.) I stretched them out over the box that they came in for a couple of nights, comfort improved but was still only about 3 hours of listening before the ears hurt again. So I picked up the XL earpads hoping that I would finally be able to listen to my headphones all day and MY GOD. They are essential for bringing out the true comfort of this headphone. Anyone with large ears/heads or who wears glasses, I highly recommend upgrading the pads, you will not regret it one bit.

Anyhow, thank you for looking and reading! You are an awesome community and I hope to eventually work up to the setups that some of you have going. Next step is a better DAC/amp setup.

The V-moda Wireless used to be a lot more expensive but dropped in price once the Vmoda Wireless 2 hit the scene. They don't go for an audiophile sound, but they are really engaging to listen to when you embrace how "fun" the sound signature is. I bought them for my wife last month and I now steal them when I want a good, V-shaped (emphasized bass and treble) over ear headphone. AND they don't have ANC, as per your specifications.

Would highly recommend spending a little extra and getting the XL pads for them too.

Can I ask why you're waiting for E3 before deciding on a headset? Especially when it sounds like you game on PC and Xbox. In my opinion, headset technology isn't making huge leaps in technology in monthly (or even annually, IMO again) increments. So what's on the market now isn't going to be outdated anytime soon. Best bang for your buck is getting a pair of quality headphones and either a compatible mic or a mod mic. Of course you would most likely need a Y splitter for the Xbox one but those are cheap and going this route means you aren't paying nearly as much for the company name that's stamped on the headset.

Here's my setup:

VMODA Crossfade LPs

VMODA Boom Mic

VMODA XL Ear Pads

After linking all that stuff, I noticed the price on all three of those items actually went up from when I purchased them around a year ago. Headset was $125, Mic and XL Ear Pads were $20 each.

u/Dimarziomesafan · 2 pointsr/headphones

If you like bass then the M100 is a fantastic set, great portability but relatively uncomfortable after 1hr+ imo.

$200 would be what I'd pay for the M100's personally. Used probably $160+

You may want to consider the Crossfade Lp2's instead as the pricepoint is much lower and its a comparable set of cans however everyone generally agrees the m100 is alot better. http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Crossfade-Over-Ear-Noise-Isolating-Headphone/dp/B00HYH7HXA/ref=pd_sim_23_4?ie=UTF8&dpID=41X%2BKCjg0cL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR107%2C160_&refRID=0H21N701F1KSA5EBQ5MM

Personally I'd buy the lp2 long before I'd spend the same money on the M50

EDIT: more comfy pads

It sounds like you're looking for the exact same thing as me, haha. These days, I'm listening to a lot of k-pop, so there tends to be a solid emphasis on bass as well as vocal lines. These V-MODA headphones have the right marriage between the two, in my opinion. It's not overwhelming bass (unless you use an EQ to intentionally get that effect), and it's not overly harsh in terms of the vocal clarity like I've experienced on some other headphones. So if you're trying to grab something cheaper, then the Crossfade Wireless might be a good pick for you. The Gunmetal Black is still only $129, and you can grab some XL pads like these unofficial ones or the official V-MODA ones

Might be worth looking into for you. And if you don't like it, you can always return it and continue the search. The Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex that I have is quite a bit more expensive, but I think that the original Crossfade Wireless, even at $129 is a great choice for what you're trying to get.

I personally own a pair of V-MODA Crossfade M-100's with a BoomPro mic and the XL Ear cushions.

Put simply, they are absolutely amazing and would not go with anything else for gaming or music listening. Now, I'm not going to lie, it's very expensive for just a headset, but I'm an audiophile and want the very best out of my sound. If you want something that is amazing but won't kill your wallet, go for the Crossfade M-80's. Biggest bang for your buck.

As for audio quality, my old turtle beach headset couldn't even compare to these. Everything about them is just amazing. They are better than a pair of Beats and most "gaming" headsets. The 3D soundstage makes playing this game (or any game for that matter) an absolute joy with unparalleled audio quality. Wouldn't go for anything else for the price. I cannot stress how good these things are.

As for comfort level, they're pretty good, but you will definitely want the XL cushions. I can play up to 6 hours on end with only two adjustments on my head before my eyes are like "we're done here." Needless to say, they stay very comfortable for extended periods of time.

The BoomPro mic is nice, but not entirely necessary, because the in-line mic that comes with the cable works just fine.

TLDR: If you have the money, BUY THESE HEADPHONES!! And if you're broke go with the M-80's.

Edit: Spelling

u/TR00Z3D · 2 pointsr/todayilearned

They sure as hell do. Bass grows in size and the highs now have a bit of air. They are a lot more comfortable because the cushioning material is memory foam, instead of regular foam. A lot more plush and seal.

I just recently purchased the Crossfade Wireless. I think they sound very good for a bluetooth set and even better in wired mode. I think the convenience of having both options is what sold me on these at first. The battery life is excellent but if the battery dies all you have to do is plug in the cable and you're set to go until you can charge again.

I mostly listen to rock/hard rock/metal and occasionally hip hop and the sound is pretty good for all of these (probably more so for upbeat tracks with bass). I'm going to be looking for something open in the near future strictly for music listening but this is my all purpose and portable headset for sure.. even if I don't manage to save up for a high-end open pair in the near future I would be content using these until I do.

I use them for gaming occasionally too and they sound really good for that also. I've played Destiny, Division, CoD BO3 on ps4 with them and the sound comes in very nice with my Astro Mixamp. I also played the Overwatch Beta on PC using them and it sounded great using the headphone jack on the PC itself.

As far as your mention to portability, I think the case that comes with the V-MODA is very portable. I was definitely surprised how compact it is. I have heard the M-100 is even better for that purpose because it can fold up even more, but I'm not sure how much of a difference. I just toss the case for the wireless in my backpack's laptop compartment with my laptop and it doesnt take up too much space at all.

I don't have experience with the ath-msr7s but I owned the ATH-M50x for about a year and they were definitely a good pair of headphones but I just felt like they were lacking to me. Plus I think its easier to hook up a microphone to the crossfade with the V-MODA boompro mic which is excellent as well and I'd recommend getting that if you are planning to do any voice comms for gaming.

edit: i forgot you mentioned comfort.. if you've read any reviews on the crossfade wireless they will all mention to get the XL memory cushions: http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Memory-Cushions-Over-Ear-Headphones/dp/B00K3K8TKA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463701062&sr=8-1&keywords=vmoda+xl+pads

I didn't even try to use the stock ones as I had read beforehand that almost everyone recommended them (unless you have really small ears i guess) and they're really easy to swap out (just youtube it if you're not sure). I have no problem wearing these for hours.

V-Moda has them for $20 here

Amazon has them as well for about $22 here, but they may be backordered.

u/Stop_PMing_me_nudes_ · 2 pointsr/battlestations

I like the v moda headphones, nice for music. I have a pair myself and i recommend the memory foam cushions to make them even more comfy: https://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-XL-Cushions-Over-Ear-Headphones/dp/B00K3K8TKA/

Oh dang! Glad you got them back out. Yeah the pads are replaceable!!

Can't help with the paint though, sorry. Mine are looking preeeeeeetty rough, everything plastic on it is broken and the headband faux leather is falling apart. But, they still sound great, and with new pads, they are super comfy.

u/fikshunn · 1 pointr/hardwareswap

Bought a pair of these for the wife off of here a while back. They benefit from having the XL Pads though, +comfy.

Rule 1

V-Moda offers an upgrade: XL-Pads

u/polyda · 1 pointr/headphones

This right?

I'll go with your suggestion though. Thank you! Over-ear literally means it covers your whole ear right?

u/jarz252 · 1 pointr/Monstercat

No problem! Ah I see, well you might also wanna take a look at the v modas m100, these are warm and bassy too but you'll probably also wanna buy the XL pads for these, one of my friends has it and he likes it quite a lot, personally if you don't mind not having too much noise isolation, I'd say go for the MSR7, however, if you need some noise isolation, check out the m100s as well as the momentum 2.0, they might not be as clear/as detailed as the MSR7 (when using a phone) but they're fun to listen to and I think a lot of people like the sound signatures of them compared to the MSR7 (which is a little more dry per se), but to each their own

u/burnie_mac · 1 pointr/headphones

for 160 they are a steal. They retailed for 280 a year or two ago and i got em discounted at 200. They are not overpriced like beats, I just meant that they are bass heavy and stylish.

u/Kapsize · 1 pointr/EDM

V-MODA LP2's are my favorites for EDM because they've got really profound bass without muddying the entire sound spectrum within a track. They run for $150 on amazon or at a local guitar center... I'd also recommend the $20 XL Ear-Pads for them, they add so much comfort!! You can also purchase customizable ear-shields which add a more personal flavor to your headphones if that floats your boat :)

u/spalding1250 · 1 pointr/headphones

The pads you've listed resemble the stock pads. I don't think they sell them on UK's Amazon. They look like this.

Buy them on V-MODA's site. They should have international shipping.

Budget - My budget is about $290 dollars

Source - A Samsung Galaxy S5, an Asus ROG laptop, and an Xbox One controller

Requirements for Isolation - I don't need a ton of isolation, although obviously some would be nice.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Probably not, maybe rarely

Preferred Type of Headphone - Full sized

Preferred tonal balance - I like the sound to be overall balanced with not too strong treble and a bass that is pronounced but not muddy or overbearing

Past headphones - I currently have a pair of Bose QC15, which are nice for the noise cancelling, but aren't exactly the most incredible sounding headphones in the world. I also have a pair of cheapo JVC earbuds which sound suprisingly nice given they were only $7

Preferred Music - I listen to lots of different kinds of music, but if I had to narrow it down it would be classic rock/rock/metal/etc

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - I want a pair of headphones that sound great (duh) and potentially be used with the mic I have. Right now I think I've narrowed it down between the V-MODA Crossfade M-100s along with the XL Memory Cushions
or the Blue Mo-fi headphones, which are on sale on this website for $270 dollars. The Crossfades seem like a better choice at the moment because I already own the mic, and I don't think the mic would work with the Blue headphones, but the built in headphone amplifier seems pretty nice too.

u/kare_kano · 1 pointr/headphones

I would say V-Moda M-100 or LP2. (Do not mistake them for the older LP variant, without the -2.) Either way, I'd also recommend you also get the XL pads, they're more comfortable. But perhaps wait and see if you need them.

The LP2 has more bass, the M-100 has better mid and treble quality. Considering you also listen to pop and rock you may benefit from the M-100 more. On the downside, the M-100 seems to be over $200 on Amazon, but perhaps you can find them somewhere else cheaper.

u/spooge1 · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

I have a pair of the LPs, paired with the XL ear cushions and the boom pro mic. It's a pretty decent setup for gaming (main reason for purchase), lots of bass, great sound. Ears get a bet warm after some time due to closed back, but still comfortable for flights and at work.

Overall it is like /u/kronbison mentioned, it's a completely different class of headphones. That being said, I also have a pair of AKG K511 headphones as spares and still chose to order the Sennheisers today as I'm looking for some new open back options.
