I'm super late but I use a book light almost exclusively to stitch. I have a stand and just clip it to the neck. Sometimes it casts a shadow but I also can clip it to my actual QSnap of I feel like it. I use two when I work on dark fabric, shining both from the front and the back.

Edit: I also clip it to my QSnap when it's not on my stand and it doesn't weigh it down at all. Though I have to clip it to my actual snap and not when it's covered in a grime guard, it won't clip on that way.
