It looks like you were using bondage tape. I'm a big fan of vet wrap as a replacement if you can find it. It comes in a wide variety of colours, is often way cheaper, is breathable so it's more comfortable to have on for a longer time, has some stretch to it so you can get more of a restricting feeling out of it, and it has the exact same property of only sticking to itself very well. The only thing bondage tape does better in my opinion is being shiny if you're into the latex look.

Many people like to use a piece of 4" pvc pipe instead of a foam roller. Wrapping it in a product like vet wrap can give it the friction needed to roll nicely.
I have an older pug that slides on tile or hardwood. We have put down long runners of carpet in our house to accommodate him but when we go anywhere with these surfaces, I bring some vet wrap and use it to make little socks. I find they stay on really well as they are self sticking, and also super grippy on the floor. Just another option for your very well cared for pup : )
