My new pen in question, is the Wacom Grip Pen UP-911E-02DD

I hardly use the lanyard loop. This guy would travel with the Surface Pro 2 in the same pocket that the Lifebook pen would travel in.

Edit:

This pen is also just as light to hold. I rather not have the heaviness of the Surface Pro 3's pen.

there are many pens that work with the thinkpad yoga 12, I already had two other pens from my old surface pro 1.

here's an overview of pens that will work http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/threads/tabletpc-compatible-wacom-pens-work-with-surface-pro.55416/

I personally use the up817e pen, depending on your location, it can be hard to find them... maybe try to find the up911e http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Grip-Pen-UP-911E-02DD/dp/B00014HR3I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425500892&sr=8-1&keywords=up911e

The Pro Pen probably won't work on this because Wacom likes to keep their premium pens to their own products, but thankfully there's the UP-911E-02DD (whose price keeps on rising...) which should work, although it probably doesn't support tilt.

Screen protectors work very well but most people would have trouble applying a giant (13.3"+) screen protector.

There's also the question of display resolution, and form factor. If the main use-case is art, both of these are significantly better in the MobileStudio Pro.

The pens that work on the Zbook x2 that I am aware of:

I bought this pen for my surface pro 2:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00014HR3I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also have the t5000 someone linked to below. Both pens are nice but the eraser on the Wacom grip pen is much nicer on the t5000. You don't have to push nearly as hard to erase and feels less like you are scratching your screen and more like you are just lightly erasing.

Accuracy of writing is pretty similar. When I calibrate either pen they both have similar levels of drift near the edges and slight offset though I think I can get calibrated slightly better with the grip.

as for feel, sometimes I like the t5000 but if I want a more substantial pen feel/size in my hands then the grip pen is a bit thicker and maybe more ergonomic. If she loved the feel of the original surface pro pen though and likes the feel of pencils then the grip pen might be too thick and contoured.

This is a wacom EMR pen that I use that should work with things that use S pens. I use it on my Cube i7 (basically a Cube Mix Plus or a Surface Pro 2) its great, its fat like a cintiq pen.

Edit: although I took a look at the sale page and its not available here atm, but thought its still worth mentioning because some people are not aware of this pen existing.
