I learned with the Wilson Ultra package set: Wilson Ultra. It was a good set to start with and make sure I was going to stick with golf. I upgraded after a while once I had taken lessons and decided I like playing.

Something like this. No need to spend anything more. Don't let anyone talk you into spending over $200. Unless she is highly athletic and played baseball she won't be able to hit shit for awhile. Just be cheap. Brand new cheap looks better than slightly better ugly shit she still can't hit.
If you're giving her "lessons" just let her hit. Step in every 20 or so with a small correction and go back to hitting your own. Don't let it ruin the relationship
