You're right. The tube should not be moving every time filament is retracted. It should never move, period.

I suspect that you have a recently deceased coupling or that, somehow, you haven't inserted the tube correctly, or... You haven't cut the well-worn tube in order to expose a fresh section of the tube for the coupling to grab onto. You only need to cut off off a wee bit to make that happen.

In any case, I think you should buy a boatload of new couplings. I'm happy with these; inexpensive and enough of them to keep your printer busy for a while.
