You mean something more expensive than this one for $40 off amazon? It is a sturdy metal bed frame.

A twin bed is not embarrassing at all, since you are in college, and it can fit two people, but it's obviously not ideal. If you or the person you bring home are a bit larger, it's going to be a tight squeeze. I'm over 6 feet tall, so I don't fit in a twin bed with another person. When I started having girlfriends and hookups, the first thing I did was replace my twin bed with a full size. I would only advise keeping the twin bed if you have severely limited space or a lack of full/queen size beds available in your area.

You can probably get a cheap/free full or queen size bed on Craigslist. If you can only find the mattress/boxspring set, the actual bed frame you want is just a standard no-frills frame (no headboard or anything fancy), which will cost about $40 new at a department store or may be available free or super cheap on Craigslist. Here's one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015IHMK5C/ You don't need to go buy a new bed at a mattress store or anything. A lot of these things, as well as sheets and whatnot, are also available at thrift stores.

So yeah, it's okay to have a twin bed, but you can and probably should get a bigger bed with little or no financial investment.

Do you have a box spring or is it on wood slats?

If you have a box spring with your mattress, this type of very basic frame works well They fold up really small for moving and are very easy to set up. It's the type I have on my bed and the type a friend had on her bed when I helped her move a couple weekends ago.

They also attach easily to most head boards. A metal headboard like this attaches with just a couple bolts and nuts I have a very similar one and it's very easy to move. You'll notice on the bottom of this upholstered headboard at the bottom of the posts there are two holes. Those holes will line up with the metal bed frame listed above and connected with bolts and nuts.

Get a bed frame. The whole box can transmit more noise than 4-9 little legs.

This looks fine.
