Great question! I have a couple of go-to cannabis books that I'd love to share! [Spliffs] (http://www.amazon.com/Spliffs-A-Celebration-Cannabis-Culture/dp/1579123600) and its sequels ([Spliffs 2] (http://www.amazon.com/Spliffs-Further-Adventures-Cannabis-Culture/dp/0932551726/ref=pd_sim_b_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0CBT35HSTFRBBP9YFTFJ), [Spliffs 3] (http://www.amazon.com/Spliffs-Last-Word-Cannabis-Culture/dp/1843403102/ref=pd_sim_b_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0T1B4E5QN5Z3XG3QTAKY)) are great if you want to read while you're stoned. They have articles about cannabis culture, broken up by cool quotes by famous people about weed, some of the science of getting high, and, of course, pictures of ganja.
If you're above a [7] and reading isn't really your thing, then you'll love the high resolution pictures and digestible descriptions of all the different strains in the [Cannabible] (http://www.amazon.com/Cannabible-Jason-King/dp/1580082084/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1416022050&sr=1-2&keywords=Cannabible) and its sequels, [Cannabible 2] (http://www.amazon.com/The-Cannabible-2-Jason-King/dp/1580085164/ref=pd_sim_b_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=0HZ3CBSJ1NSXP6EMD746) and [Cannabible 3] (http://www.amazon.com/The-Cannabible-3-v/dp/1580087841/ref=pd_sim_b_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0HZ3CBSJ1NSXP6EMD746).
There's a ton of stuff for you to work with. Something super old school --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4o8TeqKhgY
Not as old but still old but timeless in its political message --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PaoLy7PHwk
Still old, super classic all around, and a tribute track to a fallen friend. --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiOcVWQY2bc
KRS-ONE can't hurt, dude coined the term edutainment as far as I know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6svkdJ7HDo
Pharoahe Monch never hurts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZ6-FYAngvc
I'm sure you'll get tons of suggestions. This book often pops into my head when people ask about this.

Well, I guess I don't know if everyone calls it that. That's what we called it in the Anthropology department that I went through. My advisor wrote a book that was tangentially about it:
Caught in Play: How Entertainment Works on You https://www.amazon.com/dp/0804761116/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_5oL3CbCE69FJZ
But, it might be easier to think of as a recurrence of the social opinions and thought that characterized the first Romantic movement. Glorification of subjectivism and of emotional expression. There has been a rise in the far right in virtually every country in the West and Middle East over the last 15 or so years. Part of that is due to the rise of the overall "emotional temperature", so-to-speak.
There are several annual collections published as books. One of my favorites is the Best American series
Other journalism-related books that you might consider:
-Journalism's Roving Eye, a history of foreign reporting https://www.amazon.com/Journalisms-Roving-Eye-American-Reporting/dp/0807143596
Everyday Sexism by Laura Bates is a great collection of personal experiences, statistics, political highlights, and media influence that really show the female experience around the world.
No Turning Back: The History of Feminism and the Future of Women is a good primer on the history of women's rights.
Feminism Is for Everybody by Bell Hooks is another great one.
There was a book I read not too long ago that had interviews with a bunch of families at all kinds of levels of net worth & income called Uneasy Street: The Anxieties of Affluence.
They found that whether a person's net worth was $100k or $10 million or whether their income was $50k/year or $500k/year: everyone referred to themselves as "middle class". The reason for that is because terms like "rich", "middle class", or "poor" come with a lot of political & emotional baggage. And people bend definitions so that they can convince themselves they are the middle.
It's a bit more constructive to talk about percentiles instead like "top 25% of net worth" or "bottom 25% of income."
Validate and enhance the experience by reading some literature on the subject.
The Official High Times Pot Smoker's Handbook and
Pot Culture: The A-Z Guide to Stoner Language and Life
Both great books that our boss at work picked up for us so we could learn a bit of shit about the stuff that we were selling and the clients that we were selling too.
Language, movies, books, songs, artists, techniques, how-to, events, things-to-do-while-stoned, etc. Great books, particularly the High-Times one but both are really quite good.
/my 2¢
It's a short book, but was pretty good. He never does talk to Trump directly, but talks to some of Trumps eventual inner circle.
I always recommend Female Chauvinist Pigs by Ariel Levy. It's a pretty short read, but there's some really fascinating interviews and insights packed in there. Basically, Levy takes the stance that women also objectify themselves and that the commodification of sex and sexuality facilitates that objectification. It was kind of a whirlwind of a read, as she interviews such a diverse group of people, from professional businesswomen, prospective Playboy models, high school teenagers, sex club promoters, Girls Gone Wild producers/filmers, etc.

Putting this guy named kim on without even having him sitting in front of the camera (on Skype) then having the sound messed up... Ooh Gavin looks a little hot under the collar
Actually looks like a pretty good book...
The Closing of the Liberal Mind: How Groupthink and Intolerance Define the Left
http://www.amazon.com/Closing-Liberal-Mind-Groupthink-Intolerance/dp/1594038511
Karaoke Nights is pretty good and kind of a light read without being too fluffy.
Take a look at Lynn Peril's College Girls: Bluestockings, Sex Kittens, and Co-eds, Then and Now. It does a fairly good job of covering the dating and party scenes of the 1880s-1950s, at least for women.
For anyone who is interested in how we treat female celebrities I started reading this book 3 days ago and I can't put it down.
Critical Pedagogies of Consumption: Living and Learning in the Shadow of the "Shopocalypse" (Sociocultural, Political, and Historical Studies in Education)
Amazon Link
A good collection of papers on different topics concerning hyper-consumption. On the light side of academic writing and pretty broad in focus, so no previous experience in the field is necessary
I grabbed a bunch of things off my various wishlists that were added for being neat and/or kinda weird. Some are silly things to just look at, and others are things I might actually get one day.
Coolest decoration: Senior Woman with Asthma Inhaler Peel and Stick Wall Decal

Coolest Skincare Item: Milky Piggy Bubble Mask or Twoosong Proplis Sparkeling Ampoule

Coolest Pet Toy: Cat DJ Deck
Coolest Book: The Morbid Anatomy Anthology
Coolest Shoes: Floral Pumps ($30 after shipping oops)
Coolest Food: Gjetost Goat Cheese
"The Tribes of Burning Man" by Steven T. Jones is a nice bit of history.
You might want to check this out: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0759100470/informdesign
You should read Pledged: The Secret Life of Sororities, it's very informative.
Read all about it
There is a handbook.
I'll just leave this here...
Spliffs: A celebration of cannabis culture 3 book series (links to 2 + 3 lower down on link page, pretty sure that page is from the second book, however. The second book's got a killer joint-rolling guide in it too.
