Great; thanks for asking. He's in the planning stages atm, and we're designing our characters. I bought this book to really dig into my character's background. Our DM wants to chat with us each individually about our characters for a little bit beforehand. It sounds like we will be meeting 1-2 times a month since that's what will work best for all of us, and alternating between online and meeting IRL. I'm pretty excited to get going, then again, I've been waiting years to play. I can wait a little longer. Hbu? Did you find a group?

For those who don't want to click; used Everquest RPG PHB for $6.50 and $3.99 shipping. Used D&D 5th Edition PHB is $18.50 with $3.99 shipping.
I don't know where /u/downthegoldenstream got the idea D&D was free, nor his claims of $200 dollars to play.
But don't worry, /u/downthegoldenstream, I get it, bro. You don't want to play with me. It's cool. Happy New Years, bro. Peace out.
I have played before but I won't say I know the rules inside and out. I've read the core book (this one) but I've only skimmed a few of the clan books. I will refresh my memory before we start.
I'm not sure what you mean by "high concept" but I am definitely interested. Whitewolf created an entire world and storyline for OWoD that you could look into. It might save you some time on campaign creation; I don't know most of it.
I don't have a character concepts in mind, but Bruja and Tremere are my favorite Camarilla clans (I have never played a Sabbat game; the Lasombra seem interesting). V:tM is suppose to be about manipulating events to advance yourself, but I always thought the disciplines were really cool. Oh, and I like the dark aspect of vampire - how you're not really a bad guy but you're also not a good guy.
Ideas, lets see what I can come up with:
Ouch. Please clean up your Amazon link.
This will take you to the same item and this will take you the Amazon Smile version of the same thing.

This is what I use, works great and it’s a good price.
Huh?
I'm here for D&D.
However, this isn't something I haven't spent a great deal of time on, so here you go...
Spagyry is more or less Paracelsian flim-flam that came about as 'holier than thou' medicine at the time. While the practice and principal remains the same, it is, culturally-speaking, a deeply Christianized and also bastardized means of alchemy in terms of scientific pursuits in the observations of nature.
Frater Albertus champions it, and in this day and age it is enormously cheaper than doing ye olde work with metals. The principal is similar in terms of sweating pipe and the process itself. However, a visit with this short bibliography should provide an introduction as well as highlight the vast differences.
The 'big thing' is that spagyry, especially via modern concerns as through Frater Albertus, who was a member of AMORC, tends to 'spiritualize' the act whereas alchemy in its Stoic roots was always conceived of as a purely physical practice.

Guys this is how big of a new player I am. What rule books do I have to have to start? I'm assuming the Player's Handbook

Definitely talking about Shadowrun 3rd edition with all of it's bioware, cyberware, stun boxes, build repair skills, and health boxes featured in the core book https://www.amazon.com/Shadowrun-3rd-Jordan-Weisman/dp/1555603718
FYI, this is a thing that exists, and which I presume is being referred to: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0786919965?pc_redir=1398191149&robot_redir=1
The rest of your inquiry, however, is very valid.

I'm sure you're aware, but there's a playtested and published BSG rpg available. I've never played it myself, but from what I understand, it's functional if not impressive.
