Before I installed my hardwood floor over the concrete slab, I treated it with a water proofing product called Bluemax. Its a liquid rubber paint that seals all concrete from water. Then I laid down a plastic vapor barrier. Doing both may have been overkill, but the last thing you want after laying a new hard wood floor is the planks to start buckling from water damage.
Update...I was looking at this product: https://www.amazon.com/Ames-BMX5RG-Blue-Liquid-Rubber/dp/B0021HCL34/ref=sr_1_13?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1479849676&sr=1-13&keywords=liquid+rubber. I called the manufacturer and confirmed it is water potable. They said to use 3 coats for best results. I will post pics when I get my grow beds in. Am using 4' & 6' galvanized rounds. Should I use some sort of metal primer?
